  • 1. Focus • Camera relies on the focal point Camera “how to” images from Kodak.com
  • To Focus • Press the shutter half-way, then finish the shot when ready.
  • Focus tips • Zoom in, press half-way, then re-frame the shot.
  • 2. Modes / White Balance (what’s on the dial?)
  • Modes
  • Auto mode • Usually good results – cameras are pretty “smart”
  • Landscape mode (mountains) • Good for long distance shots • Enhanced colors and contrast, sometimes slower shutter speed
  • Sports mode (running man) • Get ready for the score! Press and hold half way... • Try panning, keeps subject focused.
  • Night mode (moon/stars) • Open the iris to let more light in • Flash, if used, only lights the foreground
  • Problems with night mode • Out of focus? • Camera shake?
  • Problems with night mode • Out of focus? • Camera shake? – Hold your breath, – Use a tripod/hard surface, or – Use the self-timer!
