  2. 2. <ul><li>This stage occurs before Type 2 diabetes takes place. </li></ul><ul><li>The blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be considered diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>79 million people in the United States carry prediabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>Recent research has shown that damage to the body, especially the heart and circulatory system are already affected in this stage. </li></ul><ul><li>3 different tests: AC1, Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) and the Oral Glucose Test (OGTT) </li></ul>Photo Courtesy of ebodhitree.com
