  • What is BTEC Sport?BTEC is a qualification that isdesigned to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range ofsectors.They give learners the knowledge,understanding and skills that theyneed to prepare them foremployment.
  • What is BTEC Sport?The Edexcel Level 2 BTEC First Certificate is a 180guided learning hour qualification which offers a bite-sized opportunity for learners to experience avocational qualification.The BTEC First Certificate offers a focused vocationalqualification for learners who wish to follow a shorterprogramme of study related to an aspect ofemployment that they might wish to move into; or ataster qualification which can extend their programmeof study and provide an initial experience of avocational area.This will also enable learners to progress to a higherlevel qualification relevant to the sector.
  • What is BTEC Sport?The BTEC Firsts in Sport have been developed to focus on:•Education and training for those working in the sport sector•Providing opportunities for those working in the sport sectorto achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationallyspecific qualification•Providing opportunities for learners to gain a nationallyrecognised vocationally specific qualification to enteremployment in the sport sector or to progress to furtherqualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Nationals inSport and Sport and Exercise Sciences•Providing opportunities for learners to develop a range ofskills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudesessential for successful performance in working life.

  • EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN SPORTThere are more than 5 millionvolunteers. A significant proportion ofthe total volunteer workforce isvolunteering in sport, with most of theminvolved in coaching or activityleadership.
  • You know what mark your going to get before the end of the school year!In BTEC Sport all units are internally assessed.All assessment for BTEC Sport is criterionreferenced, based on the achievement ofspecified learning outcomes.Each unit within the qualification has specifiedassessment and grading criteria which are to beused for grading purposes.
  • You know what mark your going to get before the end of the school year!A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, meritor distinction:to achieve a ‘pass’ a learner must have satisfied all thepass assessment criteriato achieve a ‘merit’ a learner must additionally havesatisfied all the merit grading criteriato achieve a ‘distinction’ a learner must additionallyhave satisfied all the distinction grading criteria.
  • You know what mark your going to get before the end of the school year!As you complete work it will beassessed and given a grade either apass, merit or distinction.If you do not pass or would like toimprove your grade you can goback over your work make changesand increase your mark.
