    • Having a salty or sharp taste or smell; not sweet. Something you would describe as tasty or full of flavor.
    Maria Alejandra was eating a savory potato chip.
    • Scrupulous
    • (SKROO-peu-lus)
    • Definition:
    • Careful in attending to small details; particular to the point of being suspicious that someone may be trying to cheat you.
    Santiago is very scrupulous when he is counting his money.
    • Servile
    • (SER-vail)
    • Definition:
    • Submissive or fawning in attitude or behavior; serving another; willingness to do what others ask of you.
    Santiago’s attitude towards Mariana was servile .
    • Slough
    • (sluff)
    • Definition:
    • Any outer covering that can be shed or cast off; to not bother to complete or decide not to do
    Mariana didn’t do her homework; she sloughed off her responsibility. The snake sloughed off its skin.
    • Solemnity

    • Definition:
    • Being serious, earnest; solemn or respectful in actions and attitude.

    • Grave or even glooming character; very serious or solemn in nature

    • Someone who saves and doesn't spend their money foolishly.
    Santiago is a spendthrift ; he saves every dime he makes .
    • Stagnant

    • Definition:
    • Standing still, not flowing, therefore dirty or unhealthy; not progressing
    Santiago was looking into a tube at the stagnant water which was as stagnant as his progress in English class.
    • Stoic
    • (STOH-ik)
    • Definition:
    • Enduring or difficulties without complaining.
    Santiago was very stoic during an arm wrestling contest; it was difficult but he didn't cry or quit.
