BUYINGFor this project in Buying I had to take overthe relaunching of the mens section of Perry’sDepartment Store. I had to hone in on mytarget audience and come up with 3 customerprofiles. Trend research was also key in thisproject, I had to predict colors, fabrics, silhouettes and styles, and the mega trend for2012. Finally I had to determine theproduct breakdown as well as sales forecastsand BOM stocks.
RAPID VISUALIZATIONThis class focused on the process of quickly designing a collection throughinspiration, trends, and market research. I had chose to design a Fall/Winter2012 line for ZARA MAN and through the research of their product andstyles I predicted what the key pieces would be for that season. The finalproduct of this project was a presentation showing my inspiration whichcame from nature and the organic elements of New England playing withdifferent textures and the colors seen in fall while keeping away from black, aswell as fabric swatches and ultimately the final designs.
TREND FORECASTINGIn trend forecasting we focused on how tospot trends and fads going on in the industry. For this project my concept was on the prem-ise that natural disasters and harsh elementswould be the driving force for fabrics andclothing styles that we would see. The twolooks I designed were made to look slightlytorn and tattered while still being functionaland fashion forward, and the color palettechosen was an organic blend of colors comingstraight from the earths palette.
STORE DESIGNFor this store design class I had to come together with a partner to develop a concept for a retail store and bring thatto fruition through the fixtures, layout, atmosphere, and overall design. After deciding on our brands identity my sche-matics and fixture design came to life in the 3-d SketchUp model by my partner. With this old-school, haberdasherymen’s shop we created the ideal destination for the modern man.
