  • 2. “ One thing must be emphatically stated. The New Testament books did not become authoritative for the Church because they were formally included in a canonical list; on the contrary, the Church included them in her canon because she already regarded them as divinely inspired, recognizing their innate worth and generally apostolic authority, direct or indirect”. –F.F Bruce How did the bible get put together? • “ Above all, you must understand that no prophecy
    • of scripture came about by the prophet’s own

    • just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with
    • the wisdom God gave him. He writes the same
    • way in all his letters, speaking of these matters.
    • His letters contain some things that are hard to
    • understand, which ignorant and unstable people
    • distort, as they do they other scriptures, to their
    • own destruction” (2nd Peter 3:14-17)

    • “ About this time lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one
    • ought to call him a man. For he was one who wrought
    • surprising feats and was a teacher of such people as
    • accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and
    • many Greeks. When Pilate, upon hearing him accused
    • by men of the highest standing among us, had
    • condemned him to be crucified, those who had in the
