5. 5. Gerard Martir Senior Wireless Sales Engineer, Nortel (colleague) “ It is a genuine pleasure and honor for me to recommend Michel Cazayoux. Throughout my different career progressions at Nortel, I have worked closely with Michel since 1998. I, like many others who’ve collaborated with Michel either through cross-functional projects or within the Nortel CDMA, 1xRTT, EVDO, and LTE communities, came to know and appreciate him. Very goal oriented as well as a team player, Michel is always punctual, yet easy-going. He is keenly devoted to his work, but being a real people person, he is also enjoyable to be around. Michel demonstrated from early in his tenure at Nortel that he understood the business drivers and ensured that the hardware engineering team he led was efficient by continuously reviewing and analyzing potential process improvements. In my own observations, Michel’s past experiences has facilitated the evolution of his professional career into his most recent role as LTE Product Line Manager. His previous job profiles has clearly established areas of expertise dealing with new product and feature introductions whereby launching projects from the incubation phase to commercially viable solutions lends him to be an ideal fit in this new role. I would without any reservation recommend Michel. He would be a valued asset to any organization.” February 24, 2009
 6. 6. Rama Datla Senior Network Engineer (Wireless), Nortel (colleague) “ Michel and I worked together in Core Engineering on VZW's EVDO capacity planning. Under strict deadlines, Michel was not only able to brainstorm capacity planning ideas but also create tools (automation) that would help the customer easily plan for changing capacity needs and network growth. Michel's problem solving abilities blended with his excellent communication skills are an asset to any organization. He would excel at any role.” February 16, 2009
 7. 7. Steve Buford Sr. AWG Network Design Engineer, Nortel (colleague) “ Michel is a top notch engineer and a pleasure to work with. He freely shares his knowledge with other and is a great team player. He is a very detailed and accurate with his work and has great Excel program skills which he used to automated many manual tasks for our group.” February 13, 2009
 8. 8. Greg Boggs Senior Wireless Network Engineer, Nortel (colleague) “ Michel and I worked together for many years at Nortel. The first word that comes to mind is OUTSTANDING. Michel is one of the brightest and most talented peers I have ever worked with. His analytical and problem solving skills are unmatched. Michel was always very thorough in every aspect of his role and able to handle several projects simultaneously. He has excellent written and verbal communication skills. He interacts well with all levels of personnel, management, and customers. More importantly, he is honest, morally and ethically stable, and a family man. I highly recommend Michel and would be honored to work with him again in the future.” January 29, 2009
 9. 9. Carlos Motta Senior Wireless Core Network Engineer, Nortel (colleague) “ I worked with Michel for about 3 years while we were both working at the Core Network Engineering at Nortel. Michel is an excellent mentor and advisor, always highly motivated and energetic. As an engineer, he is one of the best I have worked with; his expertise is second to none. He is very detailed, he documents his work thoroughly. He implemented processes in the organization that are still followed as the standard long time after he left the team. Michel would definitely be an asset in any organization.” March 21, 2009

 11. 11. Feedback Form

Asked to be rated on the nine different behaviors seen above

Text boxes provided for comments on

Strengths

Opportunities for Improvements

General

 12. 12. Nine Responses

Responses gained from varying groups that interact with Michel

 13. 13. Nine Behaviors - Results

Lowest ranking is ‘Very Good’ with 20% of the applicable rankings.

The other 80% responded as ‘Excellent’

UNANIMOUS rank of ‘Excellent’ for ‘Accountability and Ownership’
 14. 14. Opportunities for improvement

The Solutions Showcase benefits from input on demos from marketing. I do not have a view on how much Michel has offered in that area, so I honestly cannot comment. However, I feel that there are a significant decrease in demo incubation this year, something we all should probably work on . This does not mean coming up with a million new demos, but we greatly need some new cutting edge demos for the showcase.. probably an improvement we can all embrace.

None that I can think of.

Michel's effectiveness will only improve once Nortel CDMA & LTE product LC's figure out what we can really afford to build. Right now, overall Nortel credibility / longevity is a customer concern that we need the high ranking mngt team to address. This is not something that Michel can address on his own.

Gaining additional competitor market inelegance . Help PLM to better identify product differentiation compared to our competitor

industry and competitive technology solutions awareness (it's something that we can all do better but never get enough time to put a focus on)

 15. 15. Strengths and General (Page 1 of 4)

It is a pleasure to have Michel on the EvDO IPT. He always has a positive attitude, takes ownership of issues and respond in a very timely manner. His deliverables are always ready ahead of time. He always strive to do the best thing for the customer. His leadership is excellent, I have seen him raising flags when he knew that certains areas would be a problem for the customer. Michel is also working very closely with pricing in ensuring that the new platform that is coming out would have appropriate pricing so we don't have to modify later. His competitive intelligence information on EvDO is always kept up to date and he provides many revisions on an ongoing basis. It is a pleasure to work with Michel ! Thank You Michel for all your hard work.

Great Powerpoint charts & creativity , good collaboration skills, flexible and open to alternate approaches

 16. 16. Strengths and General (Page 2 of 4)

Michel is a pleasure to work with and consistantly represents himself as a natural leader who exhibits Nortel Core values with a "say do" attitude . He's an asset to any team and I look forward to the opportunity of working with him more in the future.

Michel is a pleasure to work with and is an excellent communicator / presenter that the end customers enjoy listening to . keep up the good work.

It is great working with Michel. He is very knowledgeable about the product, always willing to get involved in creative thinking and brainstorming discussions, and deliver on his promised . He is a great asset and help to the EV-DO PLM team.

Michel has provided excellent support to me this year on my CDMA accounts. He is always prompt to respond and is very knowledgable on EVDO.

 17. 17. Strengths and General (Page 3 of 4)

Michel is amazing to work with especially with regards to customer visits. He has always shown an aptitude for team playing and quickly embracing and learning new demos. He takes assigned customer visits seriously and works diligently to ensure his knowledge and value propostion of all the demos (even the ones he is not presenting). He brings value to the team . I have personally enjoyed all my encounters with Michel.

Through our experience this year as members of CDMA EVDO Release 8.0 and 8.0 aTCA RNC9K IPT teams, Michel has constantly reflected a high degree of professional and personal dedication to extended Nortel teams, presenting the best possible solution to customers, and meeting new product deliverables. Among his strengths, Michel is personable, articulate, and knowledgeable in a breadth of areas. Because his opinions are so thorough and insightful , I’ve often leveraged him as a sounding board for pricing or commercial decisions as with pre-commercial aTCA RNC pricing strategies and potential EVDO commercial programs.

Michel is also one of the most vocal on IPT calls to remind the team of business opportunities with Tier 2/3 customers and ready with ideas when we run into complications with Airvana on product capabilities and licensing restrictions.

Highly motivated; team player; technically adept

 18. 18. Strengths and General (Page 4 of 4)

Michel's can-do attitude and strong knowledge of CDMA & DO Rev A makes him an excellent resource for this role

Thinking outside of the box on new business opportunities and marketing ideas, trying to address customer needs across the board (not just addressing Tier 1 needs), creating great presentations regarding the EV-DO product and helping PLM in various deliverables to the customer.

CAN DO attitude, Responsiveness, Leadership, Technical Knowledge

High energy and can-do attitude makes it very easy and fun to work with Michel. He is also very good at engaging customers

Michel is aweseome .. is that general enough. Seriously, my interactions with him have always been positive.

I haven't had a lot of interaction with Michel. When he needs collateral published to BizSphere, he's very clear in his requests and always provides all the information needed to complete them. The few times I've had questions, he's responded timely . He seems very knowledgable and he's been a pleasure to work with in my limited experience with him.
