  3. Before the Lesson
    • Line up outside the ICT room before the lesson
  4. Supervision
    • Students may only enter an ICT room when a teacher is there
  5. Instructions
    • Follow the teacher's instructions immediately
  6. Listening
    • Be quiet and listen carefully to the teacher
  7. Seats
    • Stay in your seat
    • Always use the same workstation
  8. Bags
    • Bags should be kept outside
  9. Logging On and Logging Off
    • Wait until the teacher tells you to log on
    • Wait until the teacher tells you to log off
  10. Secret Passwords
    • Keep your passwords secret from other students.
    • Only you should use your network account
    • Other people can not use your network account
    • You cannot log on to other people's accounts
  11. Looking After Equipment
    • Don't eat, chew or drink
    • Don't interfere with leads, plugs and switches
    • Don't move computer equipment
    • Ask for permission to print
    • Leave system files, programs or computer settings alone
    • Make sure your workstation is tidy at the end of the lesson
    • Avoid damaging other students' work

    • Only hand in your own work. Don't cheat

    • Use appropriate language in your ICT work

    • Avoid offensive language
    • Avoid harassing, insulting or attacking others (bullying)
    • Avoid damaging computers, computer systems or computer networks (hacking)
    • Respect copyright laws
    • Avoid using other pupils' passwords
    • Keep your passwords secret from other students
    • Only you should use your network account. Avoid letting anyone else use your user account
    • Avoid using other students' network account
    • Breaking the rules may result in an Internet ban and additional disciplinary action

  17. Managing and Organising Your Work
    • Write the content first
    • Work on fonts and images later.
    • Use a maximum of 2 or 3 fonts in a document
    • Save your work every few minutes
    • Keep more than one copy of each piece of work
    • Save your work in folders. Each subject needs it own folder. Each project needs a folder.
    • All documents need a sensible filename, your name, date and title of the piece of work in the header
  18. Presenting Your Work
    • Use fonts to fit your work
      • Comic Sans is not suitable for formal reports
    • Choose size 10 or 12 font for paragraph text
    • Make titles standout so it is larger and bold
    • Avoid underlining titles
    • Only use Wordart for logos or posters
    • Make fonts and headings consistent throughout the document
  19. Internet Safety
    • Do not put personal information on public websites
    • Do not share personal information with friends you have made on the Internet
    • Check with your parents before you meet friends you have made on the Internet
    • Check with your parents before you download or open files and programs
    • Respect copyright
    • If someone sends you an abusive or worrying message then tell your parents straight away

    • Use the outline tool to organise your PowerPoint slideshows
    • Use formulae to make calculations in your Excel spreadsheets
    • Make your picture files small for Internet use by saving them as gifs or compressed jpegs

    • Students' introduce themselves and say what they did over the summer - 10
    • Put students into groups and get notebooks - 5
    • Students check logins work for network, Email, Moodle, ELGG - 15
    • Groups brainstorm rules and good practices in bingo format - 15
