  • 1. CIRQUE DU SOLEIL Years ago circuses were: elephants dogs, lions, tigers, seals monkeys, etc. Not anymore...

      Environmentalists saw many problems with the old circuses and the animals; where and how the animals were living, the constant transportation, stressfull training,difficulties in finding good living conditions (enough water, for example) in the places where circuses were.
  • 3.
      A new name changed the history Cirque du Soleil´s first show in in 1984, they´ve never had a single animal on stage. And they are proud of it.
  • 4. They started with a group of young artists in Quebec, Canada, transforming circus into a mixture of traditional circus arts with street entertainment, outrageous costumes and original music.
  • 5. Their new conception is so different and beautiful that they have to created a new audience for the circus. Check out their success translated in numbers:

    • In 1948, 73 people worked for Cirque du Soleil
    • 7. Today it has almost 4,000 employees worldwide, including almost 1,000 artists.
    • 8. The avarage age of employees is 35.

    • Cirque´s employees and artists represent over 40 nationalities and speak 25 different languages.
    • 10. Close 80 milion spectators have seen a Cirque du Solei show since 1984.

    • Close10 million people saw a Cirque du Soleil show in 2007.
