World Language Festival Presentation Transcript

  • 1. World Language Festival
    Saturday, January 29th 2011
    “Languages: Opening a World of Opportunities”
  • 2. Declamation
    Memorized poems will be interpreted by the participant.
    Teachers select appropriate poems.
    Students must provide a copy of their poems to the Judges on the day of the competition.
    Time:
    Level I 1 minute
  • 3. Impromptu Speaking
    The Judge will provide a written cue for the student.
    The student will be given one minute to review the cue and to organize his/her thoughts on scratch paper, if needed.
    The student will speak about the topic for one minute, without notes.
  • 4. Skits
    Minimum of two participants.
    One presentation per school, per language.
    Target language ONLY.
    Duration: 3-5 minutes (excluding the assembly and disassembly time, this should NOT exceed 5 minutes).

    You are still able to participate!
    PROJECT DUE DATE: January 18th2011
  • 6. Art - POSTER
    POSTER:“Languages: Opening A World of Opportunities”
    Dimensions of the poster need to be 22” x 28” (poster board size)
    Poster should reflect a global theme of “Languages: Opening a World of Opportunities”, be colorful and original.
    On the back of the poster the participant’s name and school should be written.
    Each poster should include the title “Languages: Opening a World of Opportunities”
  • 7. Art – 3D Exhibit
    3-DART EXHIBIT:
    3-D representation of global theme of “Languages: Opening a World of Opportunities,” Artwork should be colorful and original.
    Attached to the project, but NOT visible to the Judges, should be the participant’s name and school.
  • 8. Art – Multimedia Presentation
    MULTI-MEDIA PRESENTATION:
    Presentation may be a video, slideshow or other Web 2.0 multimedia presentation. Participant’s name and school should be sent along with the presentation but the project should NOT include the participant’s name or school IN the presentation.
    A multi-media presentation should beoriginal and reflect the theme “Languages: Opening a World of Opportunities.”
  • 9. Entertainment
    One presentation per language per school.
    Three categories:Singing, dancing, or instrumental, reflecting the target language. Three minutes maximum.
    Lyrics in target language ONLY.
  • 10. Awards
    First Place and Second Place –Trophies
    Third Places-Ribbons
    All participants will receive certificates of participation.
  • 11. MANDATORY MEETING
    If you are interested in participating please attend a Mandatory Meeting on:
    Friday, December 10th 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in my classroom.
    Before hand please check to make sure you are available to attend the festival on January 29th
