The "V" Factor in Viral Video Distribution
Part One: Viral Video Setup Stage: What You Will Need!
In part one of this "viral video series", I'm going to give you an overview of the tools that you'll need,
the dos and don'ts of viral video production, and the guidelines you should adhere to while planning
your videos.
As I teach in the WEST Program, the planning stage in every strategy that you will implement, is the
most crucial element. Viral video distribution and video networking are no different. I'd like to cover a
few brief points in this article, part one of the series, and allow you sufficient time to set the stage of
virtual super stardom!
OK... a lot of people think that you need some fancy high end webcam to do top quality viral video
distribution. That's really not the case.
It's actually better to do a sizzle video first.
Let me outline a sizzle video:
1. The title of the video should have 2 to 3 targeted keywords that your market would be searching for,
those keywords should also show in the video tags and descriptions.
2. The first opening credit of your viral video should read something like this (this is mine... you can
use it as reference)
"The WEST Program Presents: Bob Yeager"
SEO: The Unrevealed Truths About Optimizing for Organic Traffic Explosions.
Now imagine if you were looking for information on generating traffic,
like we supply here on the WEST content site, or the more advanced tactics we teach in the WEST
program. Then, you find one of my short 1 1/2 minute videos that details a quick, easy to implement
strategy, that could improve your search engine rankings, as well as generate viral traffic.
Pretty cool right? Then, I state in the video:
"See that video description to the right of this video? Well, I've supplied a link to an ebook that I wrote,
that details every step of this SEO ninja tactic so you don't have to guess at anything. Simply click that
link... yeah, that one right there (point at it!) and I'll get that right over to you, absolutely free!
By the way, feel free to pass it on to all of your friends... pay it forward!"
3. In this example, I set the stage of the "Ethical Bribe". Basically,
lick there
Get book
Get traffic
By the time they get over to the page where the link is, they'll see an optin form. They just learned from
you, you bonded with them, and they are now going to get an outline of what you just taught! Plus, you
gave them permission to give it to their friends.
Obviously, within this little PDF, there are going to be links to your course or offer, teaching them all
they need to know about... whatever!
Why have them pass it on to their friends? Well, you could say,
"Have your friend sign up on that form too!"
But, isn't it much easier to let them give the referral, and allow your "V" factor do the marketing?
That's right, we come to the "V" Factor.
The "V" Factor is simply the viral element. First, was the short video.
Obviously a 1 and a half minute video will leave them with wanting more. The short PDF does as well!
Both the PDF and the video are the "V" factors. Think about it, how long will it take to record a 1 1/2
minute video? DUH!
Upload to video sharing site? Roughly 45 sec to 3 minutes, depending on your connection speed. Then,
how long do you think it will take for you to write an outline of what you discussed in the video? Think
about this... if you scripted the video, you have already done the outline, just convert it to a PDF and
upload it to your hosting account!
So... to end part one on the right note, let's go over a few action steps that you should take care of
before you record your video, and before I reveal part two of this series:
Action Step One
Come up with an idea or topic for a viral video, teaching your market how to do something they would
want to learn.
Action Step Two
Script what you want to say in that video, into a basic outline format.
Action Step Three
urn that script into a PDF file, get it on your server, and get the link to it.
Action Step Four
Record your video with your cell phone or a simple webcam. We don't want our viral videos to be over
produced, just be yourself and have fun!
Action Step Five
Do some general keyword research and construct a title, description and keyword tags for your video.
Action Step Six
Post your video to your favorite video networking sites, and be sure to put your optin page link in the
top of your description.
Action Step Seven
Do it again and again and again.
If you plan this out properly, you could easily create 20 videos in an hour or so, and PDFs to go along
with each of them... or! an email series!
This is where I leave you today, in the next Viral Video Article I will teach you my formula for the 20
Steps to becoming a viral Virtual Superstar... be sure to sign up on our video newsletter to receive
awesome video overviews of these articles!
By the way, the video strategies I teach in WEST? You could get them done in a day or two, and watch
a flood of internet traffic coming to your site. This one lesson in the WEST program, I could easily sell
for $597!
