  3. 3. Pullman St. PancrasThis £11m refurbishment project of a 300 bedroom hotel included public areas, bedrooms, suites and conferencing facilities andallowed Accor to re-brand this existing run down Novotel as the first UK Pullman, their prestigious five star brand. As a key member of a small team my role as senior designer on this project involved, over the course of a year, everything from theinitial pitch to space planning, concept design, furniture design and specifications, client presentations and the production of a profiledrawing package. I was an important point of contact for the client, architects and contractors. PULLMAN HOTEL LONDON
  4. 4. The scheme was based around an idea of modern British design with tailoring being a major influence. We also drew inspiration from the aesthetics of classic train travel basedon the Pullman name and the proximity of the hotel to Kings Cross St Pancras station. The public areas were dramatically reconfigured and a huge feature wall provided a strongbackdrop to the space and linked the reception, bar and restaurant together. A number of operational issues were also addressed such as the lack of breakfast covers andluggage storage. A critical part of the design included a new staircase running up to the first floor which linked the conferencing facilities together over three floors and creatinga much more appealing conferencing offer for the hotel to market. 5. 5. Ms CupcakeSpecialist vegan bakery Ms Cupcake approached PaperspaceDesign for help when they were unable to bake enough cakes tosatisfy demand. Their problem was they couldn’t work out a way toimprove the space they had to enable them to increase production.Through observation and discussion we developed a new layoutthat gave them additional layout space for cake decoration, betterstorage and improved production efficiency. We also came up withsome simple solutions to make the shop look tidier and moreappealing. As a direct results of Paperspace Design’s involvementMs Cupcake were able to increase their production significantlywhich allowed them to move into the wholesale market. MS CUPCAKE STORE BRIXTON

As Lead Designer on this project I wasresponsible for overseeing the development of the design, the production of drawings and specifications, managing deadlines and maintaining close relationships with theclient and architect. My team developed interior layouts, design concepts, specifications and a full set of technical drawings for tender. Our scope covered the selection ofcolours and materials and the design of bespoke joinery items as well as furniture and lighting layouts and specifications for all rooms in the house. 8. 8. Gabriels VinePaperspace Design developed a new brand identity and store concept for London based wine retailer Gabriel’s Vine. The design blends traditional elements with exciting, modern aesthetics to portray a contemporary yet wellestablished company. GABRIELS VINE
  9. 9. Light-weight wine racking ensures the wine itself is the real hero and is not overpoweredby heavy looking joinery. Bespoke display tables allow certain wines to be featured andbreak up the expanse so it does not become overwhelming for the customer.Pushing the limits of the brief Paperspace Design introduced the idea of self servicewine dispensers to allow customers to try before they buy as well as a tasting tablewhich provides the opportunity for intimate wine-tasting and pairing events promotingsales and elevating the brand. GABRIELS VINE
  10. 10. Jaz & JulsJasmine and Juliet came to Paperspace Design looking for a creative yet cost effective interiordesign scheme for their new Chocolate House. 12. 12. IbisOur brief was to create a new scheme for three Ibis sites reflecting the brand values of ‘hotels the way you like them’ and‘the human touch.’ The three very different sites all posed challenges and required research and analysis before designscould be developed. Our proposal offered solutions to various operational issues as well as an interior scheme thatoffered consistency over the sites whilst giving each hotel it’s own identity suited to it’s situation. The colours and materials chosen added texture and softness to help create a warm and friendly atmosphere butremained on-brand for Ibis, not moving into the boutique hotel aesthetic. Lighting was a critical part of the scheme to helpcreate intimacy and define areas within the large open plan spaces. The client wanted to achieve a three-fold increase in food and beverage revenue so our design incorporated a number ofelements to help promote the food offer. Because of the service and staffing levels (Ibis is a 3 star brand) we were notable to do this by the display of fresh product so displays were designed to incorporate live stock of non-perishable food, crockery and kitchenware in order to create a gastronomic feel whilst being practical to maintain. 13. 13. Private ResidenceConcept design and visualisation for this high end residential client.A 6m tall fish tank creates a unique and dramatic focal point for the marbleclad basement pool.In the cinema black and white photos mirror the illuminated back bar displayand mirror cladding disguises an awkward corner. PRIVATE RESIDENCE LONDON
  14. 14. Aroma RestaurantA site assessment and discussions with theclient revealed a number of operational issuesas well as an outdated interior and poorcommunication of the offer. Paperspace Designcreated a new concept that whilst retaining thelong standing brand values of modern, affordable Chinese dining also elevated therestaurant to a more sophisticated offer inorder to attract a wider range of clientele. AROMA RESTAURANT
  15. 15. Inspiration was taken from the modern chinese cityaesthetic and a more dynamic plan layout addressesoperational issues as well as creating a dramatic focal pointaround the theatrical open kitchen. We also developed anew shopfront and sigange design to improve visibility andcommunicate the offer more effectively and proposed anew external takeaway counter to respond to the trend forstreet food and the market for ‘grab and go’ at this site. 16. 16. Five Star Bedroom ConceptThis classic, luxury junior suite concept was designed as aprototype and features sumptuous yet modern FF&E combinedwith the latest technology. FIVE STAR BEDROOM CONCEPT
  17. 17. Flemings Mayfair HotelAs part of a team consisting of structural engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers and quantitysurveyors we put together a proposal for the complete refurbishment of all public areas of this prestigiousboutique hotel. Our proposal was based around opening up the central areas and creating better visibility ofthe food and beverage offerings as well as providing additional services such as a business centre and librarylounge bar. FLEMINGS MAYFAIR LONDON
  18. 18. OCBC Bank ConceptWorking in conjunction with a Singapore basedbranding agency we developed this modular interiordesign scheme as a pitch for the new youth focuseddivision of OCBC Bank. With the emphasis on lifestylebanking in a retail format the plan includes productbrowsing and interaction and ATMs for self servicebanking. 19. 19. Novotel London West Restaurant NOV OTELThe brief for this UK flagship hotel was to create a sophisticated interior with a slightly more classic feel than the usual Novotel. Our design for the restaurant features a LONsweeping curve with banquette seating dividing the upper and lower levels and creating a structure around which to base the layout. Warm, luxurious finishes combine withexciting bespoke lighting and furniture designs to create a five star impression on a four star budget. DON WES T REST AURA NT NOVOTEL LONDON WEST RESTAURANT
  20. 20. Novotel London West Lounge BarIn order to create a dramatic improvement to this space working within the brief of an FF&E refurbishment, emphasis was on good quality but costeffective furniture and an innovative use of materials. For example, existing dividing columns were modernised with bright green glass panel inserts and alaminate blackboard wall was introduced with graphic displays to promote coffee and wine sales. Details such as picture frames to the structural columnshelped to create the relaxed but business like atmosphere required for this conference focused venue. NOVOTEL LONDON WEST LOUNGE BAR
  21. 21. Novotel London West Cocktail Bar Our brief was to create a destination bar within this prestigious hotel. A black floor and ceiling finish along the centre of the space accommodates the bespoke bar with leather pad and the matching seating booths. A variety of seating options provides an intimate feel and allows for larger groups as well as couples. A bespoke feature chandelier running the length of the bar adds glamour. My choice of colours, materials and furniture all enhance the sexy, moody and sophisticated atmosphere.NOVOTEL LONDON WEST COCKTAIL BAR
  22. 22. Novotel EindhovenAs lead designer for this project I was responsible for the complete conceptual design ofreception, bar, restaurant and toilet areas from space planning to FF&E specification andvisualization. Having presented the concept to the client in the Netherlands and whilstliaising directly with all members of the client team, I developed the design into a full drawingpackage and continued to support the team whilst the project was onsite. NOVOTEL EINDHOVEN
  24. 24. Novotel London Waterloo BarThe refurbishment of the reception and restaurant areas at this Central London hotel was rewarded by them earning a coveted four starrating; the bar area was the final, high profile, piece to fall into place on this project. Our design opened up the available space. This allows views between the reception, bar and restaurant, encouraging guests to spend longer inthe food and beverage areas. An island bar with bar dining tables on the restaurant side also helps to link the spaces and provide a range ofdining options for guests. This refurbishment saw our client reporting significant uplifts in food and beverage revenues and a change in client profile charictarised by ashift towards more profitable beverages wines and spirits being consumed by a younger and more affluent demographic. NOVOTEL WATERLOO BAR
  25. 25. Novotel Amsterdam CityAs Novotels new European flagship hotel, NovotelAmsterdam City was a prestigious €2M project. Working ina team of five we developed a comprehensive concept anddrawing package for the entire ground floor public spacesconstituting an area of over 4000sqm and includingreception areas, conference spaces, a bar, severalrestaurants, wellness area and an airline crew lounge. The overall concept was developed as a team working withthe themes of Novotels new Natural Living campaign. Weused a continuous stone feature wall which extends fromone end of the space to the other providing a unifyingbackdrop to the individual area schemes. A base palette ofcolours and materials was also developed to ensureconsistency throughout the space. We then took a number of areas each and developedindividual schemes to compliment the overall concept. Iworked on the reception, café and crew lounge areasdeveloping designs for flooring, ceiling details, joinery itemsand FF&E. NOVOTEL AMSTERDAM
  27. 27. Alisan Restaurant and Bar, WembleyThis prestigious restaurant design project opposite the new Wembley stadium began withthe space planning of the large empty unit to include a 200 cover restaurant, a mezzaninebar lounge, a private function room and all back of house areas. As lead designer for theproject I was responsible for the concept design, construction drawing package, FF&Especifications, statutory approvals and on-site support. Absence of a main contractor forthis million pound project meant that a high level of service and involvement with theclient and contractors was necessary. ALISAN RESTAURANT LONDON
  28. 28. Document House NewburyThis renovation of an old document store into a modern and sophisticated bar was particularly interesting because of the opportunities and restrictions created by theexisting listed building. I was responsible for the conceptual scheme, FF&E specification and implementation of the design. The visual brand identity was also born from theinterior design concept I created. DOCUMENT HOUSE BAR
