  • Lets begin with a look at the equipment you will find as a part of the nurse call system.
  • As you work in and on the different floors you will begin to find the standardized nurse call system. This is showing you a view of a typical dual patient room.
  • The rooms also are equipped with a staff assist button and also a CPR button. The CPR button following with the UHS nomenclature of arrest of a patient 14 plus years of age. Urgent attention is needed.
  • The hospital has also added another customized alert of the RRT button, or the Rapid Response Team, signaling an accute condition change in a patient.
  • The wall unit has 4 additional auxiliary jacks. The jacks are programmed and constantly monitored as part of the nurse call system.

    • Connect any device with a ¼” plug.
    • “ Aux Alarm” message when device alarms.
    • Beds still get plugged into bed connector jack, but NO DUMMY PLUGS when bed is moved. Simply press the cancel button on the patient station.

    • Locate Staff from the
    • console or with dome lights.
    • Hear Staff Pages in the room you are registered.
    • Cancel Normal Calls placed from patient rooms.

  • 12. “ Hands-Free” Speaker Phone Handset Volume Select Calls Cancel “ Hang Up”
  • 13. ANSWERING CALLS
    • Picking up the handset will answer the first call on the list.
    • The @ sign will appear on the console in front of the room number, and a short tone will sound, when connected.
    • To answer calls out of order use the line select key (which will turn the call red) then pick up the handset.
    • Use the cancel button to hang up and select the next call.
    • Emergency calls get first priority and are moved to the top of the list.

    • “ REMINDER” Light Flashes outside Patient Room.
    • Automatic console callback (overtime) after approx. 4 minutes.
    • Recall set service through console.
