  • How do you make light bend?
    • When light rays enter a new medium they change in speed, causing them to bend or change direction.
  • What is refraction?
    • The bending of light as it enters a new medium
      • Examples:
        • Air to water
        • Water to air
        • Water to glass
    • What is a medium ?
      • A material through which a wave (light) travels
  • Refraction can cause you…..
    • To see something that may not actually be there.
    • That is called an Image .

    • How much a ray of light bends when it enters a new medium.

    • White light from the sun enters a rain drop
    • The rain drop acts as a prism causing the white light to separate.
