The Latino Digital Divide: The Native Born versus The Foreign Born
Technology <ul><li>Technology seems to still be lagging use in foreign-born Latinos behind U.S. born counterparts. </li></ul><ul><li>86% Latinos ages 16 and older go online verses 51% foreign born Latinos go online. </li></ul><ul><li>In the use of cell phone the numbers seem to not be to far apart yet there is still a difference; 80% native born Latinos use cell phones and 72% foreign born use cell phones. </li></ul><ul><li>The use of the internet 64% Latinos ages 18 and older go online compared with 78% non Latinos. </li></ul>
<ul><li>Ages 16-25 Non Hispanics approach near a universal internet use. </li></ul><ul><li>95% of non hispanics ages 16 and 17 go online as 96% ages 18-25. In both hispanic ages the internet use is only 77%. </li></ul><ul><li>Ages 18 to 25, 94% non Hispanics use a cell phone as compared with 805 Hispanics who do. </li></ul><ul><li>Quick thoughts: </li></ul><ul><li>I think foreign born Latinos use less technology because of the costs the technology has some people can’t affored a cell phone much less a computer. On the other hand I think us Latinos settle with too little and don’t really care for the use of cell phones and the internet . </li></ul>
