COURSE CONTENT Grammar SPECIFIC TOPIC Verb “ to be “
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE (Competence)
Formulates and produces sentences using the verb “BE” with the third person form in any type of oral and written
environment when introducing him/herself appropriately and accurately in a social environment.
RATIONALE: (importance)
Nowadays with globalization it is necessary for any individual to be able to engage a conversation with people
whom he/she is not acquainted with.
LESSON CONTENT
Introducing yourself and friends saying hello and goodbye, asking names and phone numbers. ( Making new
friends)
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a. Anticipatory set - Focusing event - Warm up: Upside down faces – T pastes on the board
upside down faces of famous people. Ss then are prompt to guess a period of 30 secs. who the
famous people are. T asks for their responses and then gives the correct answers or puts the faces
right side up.
b. Teaching procedures
Presentation: a) activate prior knowledge
b) emphasize function ( application of language structure – verb to be )
c) establish grammar structure ( ss must learn to write it accurately – inductively)
d) check-up ( T asks for examples to verify if understood)
Guided practice/ Controlled practice: T/S – there´s just one correct answer. T knows
which is. You can make a drill, fill in the blanks, oral, ……
Semi-Guided practice: Pair work etc. etc.
Free practice: Ss start creating and applying what T has taught.
