1. THE POWER OF OUR LIFE
We’re most skillful, most intelligent and most powerful simply by recognizing
open intelligence. There’s no one else to look to who can give us this
treasure; it is to be found in ourselves and in our own experience.
There’s no moment of experience that can be held onto or pushed away.
There’s only the spontaneous self-release of the here-and-now. We realize
there’s nothing to do; the short moments we take are just short moments of
our already present peaceful nature. Eventually everything that we’ve
thought ourselves to be is consumed by great, all-encompassing peace, love
and serenity.
If we’re willing to set all ideas aside and rely on short moments, then we
are completely released from the need to be constantly trying to change
things. We’re able to allow experience to flow on by with no need to
manipulate it in any way. We’re able to allow all thoughts and emotions to
flow on by with no need to regulate them or gain authority over them. We
know through our own experience of short moments that all of the thoughts
and emotions are instantaneously resolved without any effort.
If we’re looking for a sign of accomplishment, here’s a good one: we cheer
up! We are released from obsessive self-involvement and the need to make
our experience be anything other than what it is.
In short moments we truly come into the power of our life that we’re
meant to have. We want to use our skills to contribute to our family, to our
community, to our nation and to the world, and by the power of short
moments we are able to do that very decisively because our contribution
comes from clarity. This is a power that can’t be learned from a book or in
school. It can only be found in our own experience.
