2. 1.
As our radio news bulletin is local and community based, local radio
stations would be the most likely institutions to use the bulletin. More
specifically, the most likely radio stations that would use our bulletin
would be: Isle Of Wight Radio, Other local radio stations such as
Vectis Radio, Wight Island Radio and possibly Wave 105 may also
use the news bulletin for their local part of the news and
entertainment.
Local news websites may use the news bulletin as a feature on the
websites. It would give an audio feature to the website which would
be an interesting feature to have and they might use it to try and
target the younger generation, which are the least likely age group
to view the news. It may also increase their website viewings as
people of that the older generation may also visit the site to listen to
a news bulletin that‟s got a slight twist.
3. 2.
Since technology is constantly becoming more and
more common, Most of our target audience use
smart phones and tablets that have internet access
and can download certain apps. With this in mind, it
may be possible to use the bulletin on a news app so
the target audience can easily access the bulletin
wherever they go. By using this method we are
connecting with our target audience and attracting
them from all angles.
There is a local youth website called Yoppul which
our group saw via social networking sites, which talks
about the news on the island and this website would
be the perfect place to place our bulletin as we both
strive for the same target audience.
4. 3.
Institutions such as the BBC have strict rules on what can be broadcasted. One of
these rules the BBC have is that you cannot endorse a product. This means that you
could not say "A car has crashed in Ryde and has been taken to ATS for repairs" as
this uses a particular company (ATS). If this were to happen, you would have to say
"other garages are available" or “This isn‟t the only garage available” so the use of
company names isn‟t common or referred to a lot. Because of this, we would have
to make sure the stories we write did not include company names to meet the owner
of the bulletin (in this case the BBC) needs or wants.
If our bulletin was to be used by other production companies, then we would
probably have to adjust the stories we use. This is because many companies are strict
with what they want broadcasted and they might be bias towards something
they‟re passionate about and therefore only selecting particular stories.
Our stories might also change if used by other companies if they didn‟t agree with
our sources. If the company felt our source was „Un-reliable‟ they might choose not
to use which could affect the whole story.
