OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1946 as the Distributive Education Clubs of America
By the 1990’s, the organization had evolved into DECA – An Association of Marketing Students
Today, DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management

OUR STATE
California DECA now boasts over 2,900 members in over 60 chapters from Eureka to San Diego!
California DECA consistently boasts one of the largest numbers of event winners of any state in the country!

OUR INFLUENCE
DECA now boasts over 200,000 high school and college members in over 5,000 schools around the world
Chapters thrive in all 50 states and in countries and territories on three continents
The United States Congress and Department of Education both authorize DECA’s programs

The DECA Diamond has been the emblem of our organization since it began in 1946
Blue is now the official color for DECA

DECA members have raised over $5 million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and millions more for other local and national causes
Community service activities enable students to invest time and energy in their communities while applying real-world project planning and marketing skills
“ DECA Serve Day” was established as a worldwide day of service for all DECA members

DECA’s International Career Development Conference host over 15,000 students in places like Orlando, Anaheim, and Atlanta!
DECA also hosts yearly conferences in Washington, DC, New York City, and other locations all over the country !
