How to Apply for the FEDCO Teacher Grant

On May 18, 2011, CCF hosted a live webinar for teachers who are interested in applying for the FEDCO Teacher Grant. The grant ranges from $500 - $1000 and is available for K-12 teachers in Cerritos, Culver City, Norwalk-La Mirada, Pasadena, and LA Unified School districts.

CCF will be hosting another webinar on June 17, 2011 from 12P.M. - 1P.M.

  • Welcome Good afternoon. Thank you for joining us. I am Peter Rivera, PO at CCF. I am joined by my colleagues …. This webinar will provide some background on the FEDCO grant program and provide you with information on how to complete and submit the application as well as submit a competitive proposal.

  • Last year more 194 proposals were approved totaling a little more than $219,000 Due to the economic downturn we have lost money and will have approximately $174,000 to grant out.
  • Multiple teachers may submit a joint proposal and request up to $2,000 Charter schools within these school district boundaries are also eligible to apply

  • Format of Project Overview
  • It is expected that the projects and field trips will take place after the 1 st of the year, sometime during second semester. Therefore, we are expecting to mail out grant checks before the winter break. The checks will be sent to the teachers with copies of the grant agreement that needs to be signed by you and your principal and returned to CCF. Checks will be made out to the schools, not teachers.

FEDCO Charitable Foundation <ul><li>The FEDCO Charitable fund was established at the California Community Foundation (CCF) in 1999 when the FEDCO chain of stores closed </li></ul><ul><li>The fund was established with more than $7 million </li></ul><ul><li>CCF administers the FEDCO Charitable Fund and coordinates the grant distribution process </li></ul>

Grant Purpose <ul><li>FEDCO teacher grants are awarded on a yearly basis to support hands-on, classroom projects or field trips </li></ul><ul><li>Grants range from $500 - $1,000 per teacher </li></ul><ul><li>K-12 teachers teaching in Cerritos, Culver City, Norwalk-La Mirada, Pasadena and Los Angeles Unified school districts are eligible to apply, as well as any charter schools authorized by these school districts </li></ul>
