Project Aim: To embed e-learning at Central West TAFE through the use of an incubator model
Project plan for 2008
Develop a 3-5 year strategy to embed e-learning at Central West TAFE
Build a team of e-learning specialists across various industry areas
Use new skills to create e-learning resources for key qualifications

Establishing the 3-5 year plan
Step 1: Use the tools from the “Innovate and Integrate” strategy with different forums at Central West TAFE to identify the organisation’s current phase in the adoption of e-learning
Step 2: Plan implementation of next phases (2 & 3)
Step 3: Set up a Steering Committee made up of key College staff (including Academic Training Director & IT Manager)
Step 4: Implement specific e-learning professional development sessions (open to all College staff)
Step 5: Start a CE6 (WebCT) User’s Group and investigate the use of Moodle as an alternative Learning Management Systems

Professional development experience leading to improvements in College products and services
More qualifications are now available via flexible and e-learning
College support for lecturers to be able to use a wider choice of products (e.g. Moodle, as well as CE6 LMS)
Lecturer support resources: PD resource repository, regular CE6 user group meetings, ‘how-to’ CE6 cheat sheets including an e-learning pre-delivery checklist, Student CE6 Orientation learning module
Project Outcomes
Other lecturers are also wanting to develop e-learning resources (including Hairdressing, Business & Automotive)
Clients in industry enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Children’s Services are using CE6 resources and collaboration tools to compliment their face-to-face workshops
Using the blog tool and learning objects from LORN in a CE6 shell to engage a VET In Schools group (this model has great potential to also use with other industry area VETIS groups).
Where to next?
Plans for 2009 include the continued use of the Innovate and Integrate strategy, commencing with a review of the organisation’s current status / phase in the adoption of e-learning
Target priority industry areas and motivated lecturers to ‘nurture in the incubator’
Use 2008 project team ‘specialists’ as mentors (the ripple effect)
