    Another event that marked the development of Costa Rica was the annexation of the Nicoya party.

    In March 1824, Costa Rican government had addressed an invitation to the towns of Nicoya, Santa Cruz and Liberia, to annexto Costa Rica.Liberia opted to keep connected to Nicaragua, Santa Cruz would support the decision of Nicoya, and this council determined by open meeting on July 25, 1824, annexing all the country, among the reasons for the union were
