  • 1. The Music Matters Campaign
  • 2. What is the Music Matters Campaign?
The Music Matters is an anti-piracy campaign that aims to remind listeners of the significance and value of music, and change people’s attitudes towards music piracy.
It is a group of people that are involved in the music industry. For example:
    Artists
    Songwriters
    Retailers
    Labels
    Managers
  • 3. People tend to forget how much effort, time and money goes into making music, and the campaign aims to remind people of that.
Also, music is becoming very easy to get hold of now (due to illegal downloading and peer-to-peer file sharing sites), so it is very important to tell people how important music is and that it is essential that they get their music in a fair and ethical way, and not illegally download it.
“We believe it is important to support the artists and all those involved in making incredible music by choosing to consume music in an ethical way, and that’s why we’ve set up the Music Matters campaign.”
Why is the campaign so important?
  • 4. The Music Matters campaign has their own Trustmark.
They put their Trustmark on sites that people can legally download music from, so people can tell which sites are official and which ones are illegal.
    These are sites such as:
    HMV
    We7
    iTunes
    Amazon
    Napster
    Spotify
