1. Hitler: The Human Being
Rise to Power
◦Hitler Joins the German's Worker Party (1919)
▪Adolf Hitler's rise to power started with him being ordered to investigate the German's Worker Party.
Once he was at this meeting he decidedly liked some of the points being made, but when a man said
something he did not like he burst out and spoke without interruption for 15 minutes. After this the
council decided that he would be beneficial to him because he could speak well, so they invited him.
Hitler had to think over the decision to join or not, but when he decided to join he was in turn joining
politics. He was joining into what would be the Nazi party, and he would spearhead the entire worlds
outlook on Germany.
◦Hitler Is Named Leader Of The Nazi Party (1921)
▪When Hitler was named leader of the Nazi Party he first learned how to lead people, and more
importantly manipulate people to do what he wants. He spoke in front of the group many times and
then finally, the group voted and he would become the next Fuhrer of the Nazi Party. This was
significant because Hitler then knew how to become elected into power, and got a taste of what it
would be like to a Fuhrer.
◦The Nazi Party Is Elected Into the German Reichstag (1930)
▪In 1930 the Nazi Party was elected into the German Reichstag with 107 seats to them. As Hitler was
the leader of the Nazi Party he was now able to have a bigger say in government, and have a greater
influence in the way German people saw things. Also with this Hitler was now actually able to get into
the government and thus be able to progress his way into becoming Germany's dictator.
◦Hitler Runs For President (1932)
▪When Hitler ran for president, he really was able to influence the German public by playing on their
weaknesses and then gaining their trust and by having their trust, their votes. Even though Hitler did
not win the presidential election he was able to make a better image for himself in the eyes of the
German public, and by doing this, almost insuring him that if he ever did get into power he would have
the support of the public in his decisions. Also by losing the election he just wanted the control even
more.
◦Hitler is Named Chancellor (1933)
▪Being named Chancellor was a big step in Hitler's becoming a dictator. When he was named
Chancellor everyone in his cabinet underestimated him, and in a way were only trying to use him to get
the government the way they wanted it to be. They should not have underestimated him, because he
was able to bring Germany to the government that he wanted, and to take down the current
government.
Impact on his Humanity
◦Germany Losing WWI
▪Hitler was devastated when he found out that Germany had lost the war, when they lost the war he
2. tried desperately to find a cause for them losing. He decided that the reason why they had lost was the
Jewish community.
◦Hitler was Hit with Mustard Gas
▪While fighting in the war Adolf was hit with mustard gas and changed his thoughts and reasoning for
being alive. He became convinced that his purpose in life was to “save Germany”. This is possibly why
he became so surrounded with the idea of becoming the leader of Germany and how they could get
their country to be “right”.
◦Some Hitler's Commanding Officers were Jewish
▪Some of Hitler's commanding officers were Jewish and because they had lost the war, they were to
blame. Also some of the strategic plans that they had in Hitler's opinion were not good at all, and
because of this yet another hate for Jewish people came out.
Where Hitler's Extreme Anti-semitism Came From
◦Hitler's Mother's Death
▪Hitler's mother died when she was 47 of breast cancer, and to Hitler his mother died because she had
been taken care of by a Jewish doctor. He had already lost his younger brother, father, and now his
mother whom he had always been fond of, so he had almost no one left for him. With this he was alone,
he was alone because the Jewish doctor had not been good enough, or did not do his job well enough to
save his mother, and thus a hatred grew even more.
◦Semitism Already Existed in Germany
▪At this time there was already prejudice against Jewish people because the non-Jewish people
believed that they were taking all their jobs and land away from the pure Germans. So when things
took a turn for the worst for Hitler he was already able to blame the Jewish people for his misfortune. If
he discriminated against Jewish people it was okay to others, and they could agree with him, having
none of the blame on himself.
Family Life
◦Hitler's Father
▪Hitler's father was abusive towards Hitler and did not support his idea of becoming an artist. He
pushed Hitler to follow in his footsteps and was an Austrian patriot, so Hitler became a German patriot
so he could rebel again his father. Hitler would rebel in the high school his father enrolled him in
because he wanted to go to art school, he would purposely do terrible in school in hopes that his father
would let him be an artist, it only lead to more arguments and beatings.
◦Hitler's Brother
▪Edmund died of measles and from there Hitler's family life changed. He became rebellious, constantly
fighting, and was not like himself at all. Hitler never really bounced back from this unfortunate even in
the way that he still would always argue with his father until the day he died, and later with more
figures of authority.
◦Hitler's School
3. ▪Hitler enjoyed his schooling and even seriously thought about becoming a priest for sometime. Up
until the time he was enrolled in technical school he participated in school choirs and was a good kid.
Technical school was not where Hitler wanted to be, he wanted to be in art school to become an artist.
He was not able to do what he wanted and became very angry and possibly held onto this anger
throughout his life because he was not able to pursue his dream.
Teenage-Young Adult Life
◦Rejection from Art School
▪Hitler was unable to get into the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and was rejected multiple times.
Because of this he was unable to pursue his dream and when he did try to sell his paintings the Jewish
shop owners would not buy them. He was told he should be an architect, but because he did not have
the proper schooling he could not become one. He did not have the proper schooling because of
himself, but he needed to find someone to blame.
◦Unemployment and Poverty
▪Hitler ran out of inheritance money trying to get into art school, and then became homeless and relied
on free soup kitchens and homeless shelters. He believed his homelessness was caused by all the
Jewish people taking all the jobs in Germany. Also Jewish shop owners would not sell his paintings,
Hitler then hated Jewish people because they wouldn't help him make a living.
◦“Real” Germany
▪For most of his youth Hitler wanted to live in a “real” German city. When he finally received the last
bit of his fathers estate he moved to Munich where he was able to avoid being in the Austrian military.
The Munich Police later arrested him for not being in the Austrian military and was then made to do a
physical exam. He failed this exam and was returned to Munich. Later he enlisted in the Bavarian
Regiment. Once he was in the army fighting on behalf of Germany he was then not homeless, and was
able to support his country. In a way being in the military was his escape from poverty, so fighting for
his country, did a thing for him in return.
Hitler: The Human Being
When people think about Hitler, usually the first thoughts to come to mind are evil, awful, or
power hungry devil. But to me, the things that come to mind are misfortune, misunderstood, and
unable to express himself. Hitler was a completely normal child, running about and playing games with
other little boys, and having a good time with life. But when his father started beating him, and his
brother died his life took a turn for the worse. Then when he was unable to do what he most desired,
paint, he lost his was of expressing himself and didn't know what to do anymore. It comes down to if
people think someone is born evil, or is taught to be evil. In Adolf Hitler's case i believe that because of
the events that he went through he became a bad person. It could happen to anyone, and it just so
happened to happen to Hitler, and he was the person who would change the world.
