    A smartphone is a convenient handheld electronic device that combines the functions of a GSM mobile phone and offering advanced capabilities ,often with PC like functionality.

    Operating system:In general a smartphone is based on its operating system that allows it to run productivity applications Blackberry or e.g.. the
    Software: almost all cell phones include some sort of software. Smartphones are always ahead and will have the ability to do more e.g. creating a digital playlist

    Web access: smartphones can access the web at higher speeds than other phones due to the growth of 3G data networks and addition of Wi-Fi supports
    Qwerty keyboard: the definition of a smartphone includes a qwerty keyboard. The keys will be laid out in the same manner as that of a computer

    Messaging: Smartphones are set apart from other phones due to their handling of email. They can sync with personal and sometimes professional email accounts

    Smartphone use might result in in social negligence by the user as more attention is diverted to the ever entertaining features of smartphones therefore resulting in social conflicts.
    Due to smartphones becoming ever more popular criminal activity has increased because these smartphones have got quite an expensive appeal and there is a negative social result due to pick-pocketing of smartphones.

    MIT school of management 2007 show that the use of blackberry has a negative impact on the work place such as not meeting deadlines due to divided concentration between work and pleasure.
    Blackberry maker research in motion researched on smartphone and the work-life balance. They found out that blackberry phones convert deadtime into productive time thereby yielding massive impact on employee productivity

    Due to fierce competition amoung mobile phone providers , smartphones are being modified and upgraded every time to meet the consumer needs

    Smartphones can help secure getaways to company networks thereby helping workers to perform as if they are on their desk therefore working more effectively.

    Productivity increases due to mobility being improved due to the elimination of convectional meetings being replaced by online video conferencing meaning that there is faster decision making as people don’t have to be in one particular location to undertake decisions and is saves time and improves productivity.

    • Virtual catalogues can be created for teachers to fill marks
    • 12. This will help parents to see how their children’s performance without having to drive to school since the smartphones will be connected to the school internet database
    • 13. Smartphones like iPhone have some educational applications such as dictionaries and thesaurus which can help students in their learning

    During exam periods students often use smartphones as cheating devices due to their ability to access the web
    Smartphones are regarded as disruptive and distractive by some schools since they have games and applications that students can access thereby leading to schools being a no phone zone for student

    • Smartphones can lead to loss of concentration when texting in class or when it rings it disrupts the class for a considerable period of time
    • 15. However smartphones can enable students to get access to some virtual text books which makes it economical than buying them from sources like Xerox
