Fastest car on the track.
Virtually assured a trophy of some sort.
Might get crushed!
We’ll get at least 15-20 seconds of fame.
We Could win!
Comparable amount of work/money to another XR.

Fastest?…. Show me.
Mathematical Simulation
Track divided into curves and straights.
Assumed maximum lateral g’s on curves.
Assumed maximum accel/decel on straights.

Fastest!
A gap of more than 11 seconds .
Gap of our best lap vs overall best lap in July: 9 seconds.
SCIENCE! Behold the power of

But what if…
… we crank up the boost on the XR?
Even doubling horsepower only yields a 4 second improvement.
… we improve the handling of the XR?
Raising the skidpad from .8 to .9g’s gets you only 2.4 seconds.
Watch and BE AMAZED

We’ll get some kind of trophy!
Even if the car completely craps out we’ve got the Banned Technology award wrapped up!

We might get crushed!
Validation that we outperformed expectations.
Most awesomest story to tell friends, family, acquantances…

But Brian… isn’t it all a lot of work?
Not really:
Minimal performance mods to the Civic. Mostly anti-roll bars.
Motor/fan module can be built separately.
Vacuum manifold hung from A-arms.
If all else fails we can still drive the Civic.

…and you spent how much on shipping?
Much of the fan money is recoverable (Al scrap is $.50/lb at Star Metals)
Other Expenses similar to new XR
Cage (cheaper!)
Wheels/Tires
Used motorcycle motor ($100 on craigslist).
