  • 2. Semester One Unit 1
  • 3. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 1
    • Outcome 1 - Reading & Responding
    • (Text Response – Analysis and Essay Writing )
      • TEXT: ‘Night’ by Elie Wiesel - Term 1
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • A t ext r esponse e ssay SAC on the text (100 mins and 600-800 words ) .
        • An oral presentation SAC (3-5 minutes) on an aspect of the Holocaust.
        • O ther set class work (i.e. chapter questions or practice tasks) for an ‘ S ’ – meaning, satisfactory completion of the Outcome .
  • 4. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 1
    • Outcome 2 – Creating & Presenting
    • ( Context Writing Folio )
      • CONTEXT: “Encountering Conflict”
      • TEXT: a selection of short stories, as well as material from current affairs and historical research – Term 2.
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • A context SAC that show s imagination and understanding of context and texts , as well as a “Statement of Intention” to explain authorial choices. These will be either one extended piece of writing or 3 shorter pieces. (1 5 0 minutes – 700-900 words all together).
        • O ther set class work (i.e. practice tasks) for an ‘ S ’.
  • 5. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 1
    • Outcome 3 – Using Language to Persuade (Issues – Language Analysis and Point of View Piece )
      • Exploration of an issue that is currently in the media – Terms 1 + 2.
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • A written analysis of a persuasive article from a newspaper on the issue explored in class ( 100 minutes) .
        • An oral presentation that conveys a point-of-view on the issue (3-5 minutes).
        • O ther set class work (i.e. practice tasks) for an ‘ S ’.
  • 6. Semester Two Unit 2
  • 7. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 2
    • Outcome 1 - Reading & Responding
    • (Text Response – Analysis and essay writing )
      • TEXT: ‘ Macbeth ’ by William Shakespeare - Term 3
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • A Text Response Essay on the text (100 mins and 600-800 words ) .
        • O ther set class work (i.e. chapter questions or practice tasks) for an ‘ S ’ – meaning, satisfactory completion of the Outcome .
  • 8. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 2
    • Outcome 3 – Using Language to Persuade (Issues – Language Analysis and Point of View Piece )
      • Exploration of an issue that is currently in the media – Term 3.
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • An ‘Issues’ SAC comprising: a written analysis of a persuasive article from a newspaper on the issue explored in class ( 100 minutes) .

  • 9. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 2

      • CONTEXT: “Encountering Conflict”
      • TEXT: A range of films and other sources – Term 4.
      • ASSESSMENT:
        • A Context Writing SAC that show s imagination and knowledge of context and texts , as well as a “Statement of Intention” to explain authorial choices. These will be either one extended piece of writing or 3 shorter pieces. (1 5 0 minutes – 700-900 words all together ) .

  • 10. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 –Unit 1+2
    • End of Semester EXAMS:
      • There will be two exams throughout the year at the end of each semester. They will comprise:
      • A Text response Essay
      • A Context Piece
      • Language Analysis
      • You will be given 15 minutes reading time and 2 hours of writing time for each exam.
  • 11. YR 11 ENGLISH 20 11 – Unit 2
    • Holiday Homework:
      • Read ‘Night’ by Elie Wiesel .
      • Complete c hapter s ummaries of each chapter on the handout provided .
      • Complete definitions for the glossary words on the handout ( in your own words ).
        • Your holiday homework needs to be submitted, fully completed, on the first day of Term 1 next year.
