2. About Buy Canadian First
Launched in 2008, our mission is to promote Canadian
companies, their services and the products they make right here
at home. We are not an online store and no purchases can be
made on the site.
We simply direct consumers to points-of-purchase (either online
or in brick-and-mortar stores) where they can find Canadian-
made products and services.

3. Why Buy Canadian First?
It used to be that, as consumers, we didn’t think twice about the long-term effects of our shopping
habits on the communities we live in. We became addicted to low-cost products made abroad and got
hooked on accumulating quantity over quality.
Then, something worrisome started to happen: Canadian manufacturing jobs started disappearing at an
alarming rate. Between 2003 and the Spring of 2008 for example, Canada lost 350,000 manufacturing
jobs. And sadly, things have not improved much since then.
4. Get Involved
Our mission is to showcase products that are made in Canada, and to tell consumers where they can
buy them. Through our blog and various social media networks, we are building an online community
of like-minded individuals who are together driving this grassroots movement across the country. Get
involved!
Our tremendous efforts to fill our product catalogue with tens of thousands of products made in
Canada. Yes, we still make a lot of things in this country, but they are hard to find!
Our dedication to raise awareness about the impact of our everyday buying decisions, and how much
power we really have as Canadian consumers to make things better for our country and our
communities!
5. Patriotism
Historically, Canadian’s have always been quietly patriotic. If there’s one thing the world noticed during
the Vancouver Olympics is that we’re a proud bunch and perhaps now (post record-breaking-Olympics)
we won’t be so quiet anymore.
Love of Country shouldn’t stop at flying a flag or wearing red and white. We have every reason to be
proud of our country, including the wonderful products we make here. Some consumers buy Canadian
over foreign-made as a matter of principle alone. We see a “Made in Canada” label as a badge of
honour; one we’re proud to contribute to and want others to know about. Buying products made in
Canada makes us proud!
