• 47. Receivables & Payables

Effective & efficient management of money leads to better deployments of funds & yields count in success of every business. Tally provides instant report of accounts outstanding. It also provides complete bill-wise information of amounts receivable & payable.

Receivables and payables are the two key components of any company's working capital as well as its business activity. Both influence the short-term liquidity and financing of the company considerably. Effective control of these outstandings is necessary for the company to be financially sound.

Back
 • 48. Payment Performance

Payment Performance of Debtors (Receivable Turnover in days) is the average time the customers take to actually pay their bills irrespective of the outstanding balance on the statement date. It is quite possible that the receivable turnover is low and the payment performance is high indicating that the customers cleared their outstanding, but took a long time doing it.

To get group level and customer level performance reports and a detailed position of debt collection, you have to drill down from the ratios. Use a customer statement that shows both the receivable turnover in days and the customer's actual payment performance.

Back
 • 49. Scenarios

While Budgets talks about how to plan the immediate future, scenarios deals with impact of changes to the targets.

Scenarios can be used for preparation of budget or can produce the likely result when collated with actuals.

Tally allows you to create number of scenarios.

The scenarios are created using optional, reversal & memorandum vouchers.

Budgets can follow a hierarchy while scenarios are independent of each other.

Likely scenarios are monthly closing of accounts booking provisional expenses and income. Impact of a change in the price of the product in the middle of a financial year.

 • 50. Scenarios

The scenarios can be viewed in reports

The options available while creating scenarios are

Inclusion of actuals

Exclusion of forex gain or loss calculations

Exclusion of inventory tracking calculations

Inclusion of selective optional vouchers (of all voucher types), memorandum vouchers and reversing journals

Exclusion of selective optional vouchers (of all voucher types), memorandum vouchers and reversing journals

 • 52. Budget

Budgets are Profit planning made by the company for the immediate future based on assumed scenario.

Budgets need not be fully integrated and may be of several versions and may for different periods

Tally allows you to prepare budgets for ledgers, groups and cost centers

Budgets can be created in accounts masters and can be viewed in reports

Budgets should be for a period

A group budget is created for ledger groups with in which it can further fix budgeted amount for each cost centers.

The type of the budget can be

On closing balances (more apt for balance sheet groups)

On Net transactions (more apt for revenue ledgers which allows you to, say view, budgeted sales for 15 days compared with actual sales for the period)

 • 53. Budget

A group budget is more appropriate where we don’t know the individual ledger break up for budgeting.

Example sales budgeted Rs. Five crores from Bangalore but not exactly the customers ledgers can be identified.

A ledger wise budget is more detailed than group budget as it identifies the projected activity at ledger level.

Again ledger wise budget may also be identified cost center wise.

The budget for ledgers can be fixed on closing balances or on net transactions

The budgets can also be based on cost centers

The budget limits can be fixed for expenses, income and closing balances

 • 54. Budget

Budgets can be called in reports like

Trial balance

Balance sheet

Profit & Loss account

Group Reports

They can be reviewed Monthly/Quarterly

Budget variance can be viewed in all Reports

Back
 • 55. Display Inventory Reports & Statements

Tally generates inventory reports based on the vouchers entered to date. You can use the customized reports to compare inventory data between different companies, periods of the financial year, and so on

Back
 • 56. Aged Stock Analysis (Ageing Analysis)

A very important function of Working Capital management is monitoring stocks. Money locked up in stocks can adversely affect the liquidity of a company and every company strives or should strive to reduce stock levels to the optimum. Every business (except perhaps the liquor and antiques dealers) would prefer to dispose of older stocks as they might deteriorate with time, go out of fashion, or simply get forgotten. Tally's aged stock analysis or Stock ageing enables you to know the age of stocks in hand according to when they were received and the purchase value.

Back
 • 57. Tally Reports Classification

Tally's Display of information is designed to allow a user get the maximum benefit of the data that is entered. A user gets a holistic picture of the data and is also able to present information using different options. The purpose of compiling data is to present it in comprehensible accounting reports. On entering the vouchers, Tally uses the same data and provides you with the management control reports in addition to all books and statements.

The display screens of Tally are dynamic and interactive. They are not spooled print files but are specially designed for the screen. Whatever you see on the screen can be printed as well depending upon your printer’s capabilities.

Back
 • 58. Ratio Analysis

The Ratio Analysis Statement is a single sheet performance report for a selected period. It provides you with important values and key performance indicators. It is one report that top management needs to look at periodically to assess the company's financial health and where it is going in the short term

 • 59. Ratio Analysis – Dashboard in Tally

Principal Groups

Working Capital

Cash & Bank

Bank OD

Sundry Debtors & Creditors

Sales & Purchases

Stock in trade

Net Profit

Working capital turnover

Inventory turnover

Principal Ratios

Current Ratio

Quick Ratio

Debt Equity Ratio

Gross Profit %

Net Profit %

Operating cost %

Receivable turnover in days

Return on investment %

Return on Working Capital %

Back
 • 60. Group Company

The books of Account of different companies belonging to the same management or owners are required to be consolidated to present the financial position of the group of companies as a whole. This is mandatory in many developed countries and currently shareholders would rather know the performance of the group as a whole and not the performance of individual constituent companies.

Tally makes consolidation of accounts a simple task. You can consolidate the accounts of any number of companies as well as keep them separate. You also have the option of bringing the companies into the group and separating them at will.

The first step is to create a Group Company , which is simply a name and identity given to the merged accounts of constituent (member) companies of the group. A group company may also include other group companies

 • 61. Group Company

Assume that yours is a global, trans-national organisation (or a 'group') headquartered in the UK having subsidiary companies in countries around the world. The group has different lines of business. Let's say the businesses are Thread, Fashion Retail, Home Fabrics and Accessories. You would prefer to present your group accounts in groups according to their line of businesses, which in turn are grouped accounts of the individual companies around the world
