University of Wroc ł aw The E mperor Leopold I Habsburg founded in 1702 a small academy with two faculties : phylosophy and theolog y I n 1811, the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III m erged the protestant university of Frankfurt / Oder with Wrocław academy . The new university had faculties of l aw, medicine, philosophy and two faculties of theology- Protestant and Catholic After the Second World War a group of Polish professors, formerly from Lvov, started teaching and research activities 15 November 1945 – the first post-war academic lecture delivered at the University of Wroclaw
