    1. Discover the Power Inside Web of Science: Exploring How Your Collections Support Faculty Research Paula Storm Jackie Wrosch Bob Kelly Susann deVries
    2. What We Did…
      • Retrieved and analyzed all articles and citations identified by WOS of EMU affiliate authors from 2005-2007 (Kelly)
      • Conducted a web survey of those EMU authors. (deVries)
      • Interviewed a sampling of authors representing different departments within EMU. (Storm)
    3. Web of Science ® : How the Dataset was Created
      • Searched WoS for EMU authors.
      • Data was downloaded and saved as CSV file.
      • Authors and Cited References were formatted in a single field.
      • This field was parsed using Perl scripts creating the tables of authors, published articles and citations.
      • The three resulting tables were all imported into an Access database.
      • This database was used to determine the most frequently published EMU authors and cited journals.
      • We determined % of EMU ownership/access to 244 articles and 8,643 article citations.
    4. Analysis of Journals in which EMU faculty published between 2005-2007
      • Number of publishing EMU faculty: 121
      • Number of journal articles: 244
      • Number of unique journal titles: 209
      • Number of those journals owned by EMU: 183 or 87.56%.
      • Total number of citations: 8,640
      • Library owned 4 of 5 journals/1 of 2 books cited
    5. Most Frequently Cited Journals: A Bakers Dozen
    6. Survey
      • Do faculty use the EMU Halle Library collection?
    7. 6. What are the resources or services you used at these other libraries? Books 42% Databases 25% Journals 79% Maps 8% Subject Librarian 4% Other 13%
    8. 8. Please comment on how well EMU library resources supported your research for the articles you published between 2005-2007. “ We only have the basics. Cutting edge journals, the newest books, international resources have to be located from other sources.” “ The resources were adequate, but could be better. If I could not access it at EMU, I went to U of M. I feel I should be able to access everything I need via EMU.” “ I got all the help that I needed from the Library. Thank you!” “ Fairly well. It would be nice if we had more journals online.” “ I was able to get most articles through paper journals, electronic access to journal articles, or ILL.”
