    How To Embed A Poll Daddy Poll Into Your - Presentation Transcript

    1. How to Embed a Poll Daddy Poll Into Your WordPress Blog Created by Buffy Hamilton July 2008 http://theunquietlibrarian.wordpress.com
    2. Getting Started
      • Go to www.polldaddy.com and register for a free account.
      • Once you have created your account, log into your new account (be sure to record your username and password info!).
      • Hint: You will actually have to click on the “login” button; “enter” does not work at this service. 
    3. Creating a Poll
      • From the “Account Home” page, press the “New Poll” Button.
    4. Creating Your Poll
      • You will first need to enter a poll question.
      • Next, type in possible answer responses.
      • Click the “+” button to add additional answer choices; click the “-” button to take away answer choices or extra answer boxes.

    6. Other Poll Options/Choices
      • You can set a close date to the poll if you like (see far right of menu).
      • You can use the “ Comments ” menu options on the far right side of the screen to make comments choices; you can choose to: A. Allow comments B. Moderate comments first C. No comments
    7. Additional Poll Choices
      • Choose a default language for your poll.
      • Choose a poll design .
      • Make “ poll results ” choice.
      • Click “save and continue” in the lower right hand corner when you have made all your poll choices. This is green button.

      • Once you have saved and continued, you will arrive at the Poll HTML menu page.
      • Look to the right side of the screen.
      • Click on the link that says WordPress Blogs.

      • Choose the first link.
    11. Get the Word Press HTML Code
      • Copy and paste the text you see.
    12. Next Steps:
      • Log in to your Word Press blog.
      • From your dashboard, choose “Write”; it will default to your writing a post.
      • Give your post a title. You may go ahead and add tags and choose (or create) a category for your post.
    13. Final Steps
      • Normally, we work in the “Visual” view when we are writing a post. However, to embed the poll code, you need to click on “HMTL.”
    14. Icing on the Cake!
      • Now paste in the code you copied from Poll Daddy. Click “Publish” to publish your post and poll.
    15. Enjoy Your Poll!
    16. Final Hints
      • You can edit your poll at any time. Simply log back into your Poll Daddy account.
      • Click on the “polls” menu near the top of the page.
      • Choose “list polls” from the dropdown menu.
      • Click on “options” next to the poll you want to modify.
      • Click on “Poll Options” from the next menu.
      • Make your changes.
      • Click “Save and Continue.”
      • You DO NOT have to put the code into your Word Press Post again. The changes automatically update. 
    17. Other Poll Options/Choices
      • “ Block Repeat Voters” ; I recommend accepting the default choice.
