  • 1. Should schools be blocking social networking?
    By Ayla Smoak
  • 2. Are schools understanding everything that they are blocking form the students?
  • 3. Some of these blocked sites can be used for engaged learn for their pupils.
  • 4. Why block something that will make your students excited about the lesson?
  • 5. Teachers want their students to be engaged/excited for their lessons.
  • 6. These kids are.
  • 7. So just let them get excited about learning. Unblock the social networks!
  • 8. Redefine what it means to have engaged learning.
  • 9. But do using these social networks like Skype really work for class lessons?
  • 10. Just ask them.
  • 11. Yet most schools don’t understand this.
  • 12. Schools are blocking networks that they don’t even know what they can use them for.
  • 13. The web enables global collaboration, so why block it?
  • 14.
  • 15. Class lessons can be on debates , opinions, etc.
  • 16. Teachers can arrange debates with U.K. students on the American Revolution.
  • 17. Like these kids are doing.
  • 18. Using these blocked sites gives skills needed for future jobs!
  • 19. A fun way of finding out of what is going on in the outside world.
  • 20. School leaders should be questioning themselves on what is really happening.
  • 21. Information is flowing out of classroom instead of in.
  • 22. Social networking like Skype is the new age learning!
  • 23.
  • 24. So why are we blocking our future? !?
