    • Image File Presentation David Ashbrook Jake Cannon Richard Mbasu James Vesty
    • 1. Vector based images and bitmap (or raster) based images
      • Vector images are mathematically based.
      • All lines and shapes of a vector image are independent of one another.
      • Vector images are easily scalable due to their use of mathematical formulas
      • Bitmap (raster) images are pixel based, meaning that the location and colour information are stored in individual pixels within a grid.
    •
    • 2. The difference between a GIF formatted file and a JPEG
      • Jpeg ( Joint Photographic experts group)
      • Used for compression of photographic images
      • Compressed using a string of bites. the stream is contained in file formatting.
      • Gif (Graphics interchange format)
      • Used 256 different colours
      • Used LDV to reduce loss of visual quality
      • Unsuitable for photos
      • Good for logos and designs.
    • 3. Embedded graphics and linked graphics in a Word or PowerPoint document
      • Embedded graphics are part of the document and are contained within it
      • Linked graphics can be edited in another program and are changed in all documents that link to it
    • 4. ‘Colour palette'
      • ‘ Colour palette' is the set of colours supported by an aplication
    • 5. Lossless compression
      • Lossless compression allows data to be extracted from its compressed file without loss of quality. Used in Zip and GZIP
      • JPEG does not use this, it uses lossy compression. This loses visual quality.
    • 7. Disadvantages of using .bmp format files in your work
      • The .bmp format losses quality when resizing the image
      • This can make the image look unprofessional
    • 8. Flickr
      • Flickr is an online photo management and sharing application. People use this resource to share photos with their friends and families or simply to have a good organisation of their pictures.
