  • Bryan Rieger Bryan Rieger commented on The Mobile Web - Full Frontal 2009 Very nice recap of the diversity found in mobile browsers. Do you find that @media min-resolution: Ndpi (and other media queries) work across enough devices to be useful in the real world? For the past few years we’ve been relying on UA strings and DeviceAtlas/WURFL to look up such properties (dpi isn’t included in any device db) on the server - media queries would be a MUCH nicer way of dealing with these issues directly on the client. 2 weeks ago

  • Bryan Rieger Bryan Rieger commented on Make Tools Absolutely fantastic (and spot on) presentation! This is so important for designers (and business) to understand. Your slide on the number of programmers (5,000,000+) vs designers (720,000) was so telling. As we find ourselves designing for more and more devices and contexts I feel that if we don’t have new and/or better tools costs (using existing tools) are rapidly going to spiral out of control for many companies. I’m also convinced that as designers we will largely need to create our own tools if we actually want something useable and fit-for-purpose. 6 months ago

  • Bryan Rieger Bryan Rieger commented on Modeling the Mobile User Experience @DunBurnett Thanks for the kind words. I know very little about Microsoft Blend and nothing about Sketchflow - but being a Mac user that has very little call from .NET projects I’m not sure it would actually have any impact on my outlook? One of the goals when building this tool/approach was to avoid being tied to any one specific platform, so that skills learned are transferrable between technologies and not reliant on a single application or supplier (Adobe CS Suite, Microsoft, Nokia, Google, etc). 6 months ago
