  • The importance of computing Try to imagine a world without computers…. What would this mean?
  • The Breadth of Computing • Probably part of everything we do e.g. cars, films, banking, games, etc • Ranges from: – the very technical e.g. the hardware in our computers – to the design and development of software e.g. mobile applications, games, etc
  • 2014 Entry Requirements • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above, including Maths and English • A Level or equivalent = ABB • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in related subject = D*DD • International Baccalaureate = 33 points • Brunel’s selection process
  • Our Courses • Focus on software development • Two modes of study are available: – 3 year – 4 year thick sandwich (placement) • Two main strands –Computer Science –Business Computing
  • Computer Science • Oriented towards technical formal principles of computing, software engineering • Candidates should have plenty of practice and experience in handling mathematical concepts
  • Business Computing • Major emphasis on analysis, design and implementation of Information Systems, with business and commercial emphasis. • Suitable for good entry-level grades, not necessarily in Mathematics.
