Confraria Samba Choro is the name of the group formed by 8 musicians from Clube do Choro de Brasília, that performs original rhythms from the Brazilian Popular Music, mixing classical and new songs, with new incredible arrangements.
Choro is a Brazilian music style, very popular in the 1920s and 1930s, but still popular nowadays. This Group wants to share our passion for this music and its musicians like Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim and Garoto, but also the contemporary generation of young talented musicans like Yamandú Costa.
Confraria differs from the traditional ways of playing Choro and Samba, since Confraria combines different rhythms like Choro (Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim, Waldir Azevedo), Samba(Cartola,Noel Rosa, Paulinho da Viola), and also plays Bossa Nova(Tom Jobim, João Giberto, Vinicius de Moraes, Baden Powell), Forro, xote e Baião(Gonzaginha, Alceu Valença, ...).
Since the start of the group in 2008, almost all musicians were playing in other groups or in solo career. When they met in Clube do Choro the process to create the group was natural by musical and personal affinity.
André Luiz (6 string Guitar), Gustavo Nunes (Percussion), Beto Brün (Cavaquinho – Brazilian 4 string guitar), Kalinka Barroso(Singer and Percussion), Paulo Cesar (Transversal Flute), combine classic and new songs. Acting since 2008, Confraria performs in many cultural places in Brasília like Clube do Choro, Quituart, AABB, and in others cities like Goiania and João Pessoa.
