d.e.s.i.g.n.s wiki Project Update: Learner Needs & Tool Analysis Developed by Bronya Wilkins – Aug 09 1
Assessment 4 – E-learning Project Hi, I’m Bron I’m a student in the second cluster of the Diploma of E-learning. As some of you may know, for my E-learning Project I have chosen to set up a collaborative graduation site. I have named this site d.e.s.i.g.n.s, which stands for: Diploma of E-learning – Success, Inspiration, Graduation & Networking Site.
Learner Needs 1 The first stage of the project was to analyse the learning needs of the group (i.e. You!) To do this I created an online survey to find out your thoughts on: a
How you would like to learn the site and obtain support.
Many thanks to those who responded tothe survey!
The Results: Purpose of the Site Some responses were: To use as collaborative tool for everyone in the e-Learning diploma to participate. To reflect with individual/group achievements etc and of course graduation which is something I’m looking forward to. To provide a venue for we Diploma of eLearning students to celebrate successful completion of our course, and congratulate each other re same. a colourful site where we can come together (no geographical disadvantage) and celebrate our achievements. To document and celebrate the achievements of the graduating students A site that can be used for networking where we can keep in touch with the people who we have studied with over the past two years To provide a convivial get-together and farewell as we go our separate ways. TO RECAP ON KEY LEARNINGS

The Results: Site Lifespan Question: Should the d.e.s.i.g.n.s wiki be defined around a limited lifespan (i.e. from now until after we graduate), or should it be kept going indefinitely? Results:
50% - An undefined lifespan - from now until we don't use it anymore
50% - A defined lifespan - from now until after graduation
Decision: Depending on how we use it, the designs site may be useful to continue as a communication tool past the life of the Diploma. We will let it take on a life of its own and see where it goes!
The Results: Induction & Support Question: What method would you prefer to learn how to use the d.e.s.i.g.n.s wiki? (i.e. how would you like to be inducted?). a Preferred Method: Attending an online group facilitation session facilitated by the project manager/ site administrator Question: After induction, what type of ongoing support (up until the agreed upon lifespan of the site) do you believe is appropriate for our d.e.s.i.g.n.s wiki? a Preferred Method: Discussion forum on the d.e.s.i.g.n.s wiki that other learners can respond to to help each other
