The History Of Christmas

 1. 1. The History Of Christmas
2. 2. Love and life. That's why He came, and what He offers,Christmas isn't just for children. It's for the world.
3. 3. Christ was born in the first century, yet he belongs to all centuries. He was born a Jew, yet He belongs to all races. He was born in Bethlehem, yet He belongs to all countries.
4. 4. The star of Bethlehem was a star of hope that led the wise men to the fulfillment of their expectations, the success of their expedition. Nothing in this world is more fundamental for success in life than hope, and this star pointed to our only source for true hope: Jesus Christ.
5. 5. Late on a sleepy, star-spangled night, those angels peeled back the sky just like you would tear open a sparkling Christmas present. Then, with light and joy pouring out of Heaven like water through a broken dam, they began to shout and sing the message that baby Jesus had been born. The world had a Savior! The angels called it "Good News," and it was.
6. 6. And she will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
7. 7. The one whose spirit glorified a little town; and whose spirit still brings music to persons all over the world, in towns both large and small.
8. 8. The one who the rulers of the earth ignored and the proud could never understand; whose life was among common people, whose welcome came from persons of hungry hearts.
9. 9. The one whose cradle was a mother's arms, whose modest home in Nazareth had love for its only wealth, who looked at persons and made them see what God's love saw in them, who by love brought sinners back to purity, and lifted human weakness up to meet the strength of God.
10. 10. Jesus, the son of the living God, born in Bethlehem this night for the world.
11. 11. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
12. 12. The event of Christ is the only event in human history that promises relocation and centering, meaning and purpose. This promise and its fulfillment evoke passionate and heartfelt praise and thanks, especially for those aware of their own brokenness and the healing which Christ brings into their lives.
13. 13. The spirit of Christmas needs to superseded by the Spirit of Christ. The spirit of Christmas is annual; the Spirit of Christ is eternal. The spirit of Christmas is sentimental; the Spirit of Christ is supernatural. The spirit of Christmas is a human product; the Spirit of Christ is a divine person. That makes all the difference in the world.
14. 14. The three wise men saw the light and followed it. They are rightly called wise! Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas. --Dale Evans
15. 15. A joy that is shared is a joy made double. -John Roy
16. 16. Do all the good you can,By all the means you can,In all the ways you can,In all the places you can,At all the times you can! --John Wesley
17. 17. God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith; the warmth of Christmas, which is love; the radiance of Christmas, which is purity; the righteousness of Christmas, which is justice; the belief in Christmas, which is truth; the all of Christmas, which is Christ. --Wilda English
18. 18. The very purpose of Christ's coming into the world was that He might offer up His life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas. --Rev. Billy Graham
19. 19. The joy of brightening a child's heart creates the magic of Christmas. --W. C. Jones
20. 20. So remember while DecemberBrings the only Christmas Day,In the year let there be ChristmasIn the things you do and say;Wouldn't life be worth the livingWouldn't dreams be coming trueIf we kept the Christmas spiritAll the whole year through?
21. 21. If we think of our heart, rather than our purse, as the reservoirof our giving, we shall find it full all the time! --David Dunn
22. 22. There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. --Albert Einstein
23. 23. It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you...yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand. --Mother Teresa
24. 24. It comes every year and will go on forever. And along with Christmas belong the keepsakes and the customs. Those humble, everyday things a mother clings to, and ponders, like Mary in the secret spaces of her heart.
--Marjorie Holmes
Merry Christmas!
SompongYusoontorn
