• 1. Good Lessons
From
Good Stories
• 2. Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open.
~John Barrymore
• 3. It’s not what happens to you that determines your happiness. It’s how you think about what happens to you.
To become happier, we either need to a) change the world, or b) change our thinking.
It is easier to change our thinking!
• 4. Let’s say you expect that:
Friends SHOULD return favors. People SHOULD appreciate you.
Planes SHOULD arrive on time. Everyone SHOULD be honest.
Your husband SHOULD remember your birthday. These expectations may sound reasonable. But often, these things won’t happen! So you end up frustrated and disappointed.
• 5. There’s a better strategy. Have less demands. Instead, have preferences!
For things that are beyond your control, tell yourself:
“I WOULD PREFER AN “A”, BUT IF “B” HAPPENS, IT’S OK TOO!”
• 6. This is really a game that you play in your head. It is a shift in attitude, and it gives you more peace of mind ...
• 7. A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity. Each day we are given new opportunities to choose and act and, in doing so, we create our own unique journey. Keep going...
Happiness keeps you Sweet, Trials keep You StrongSorrows keep You Human, Failures keep You humbleSuccess keeps You Glowing, But Onlyyour positive attitude
Keeps You Going!
• 8. Even your God will never give up on you. He will never give up on you. Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness Bad days give you experiences; Both are essential to life.
• 9. Compared to the fern the bamboo was seemingly small and insignificant... But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots.
The God said to me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling,
you have actually been growing roots.”“I would not quit on the bamboo.”
“I will never quit on you.”
“Don't compare yourself to others”
“The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern…Yet they both make the forest beautiful.”“Your time will come,”
“You will rise high!”
“Yes.”He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”
• 10. “
Those roots of bamboo make it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.
”
• 11. Whatever burdens you are having now on shoulders, let it down for moment if you can pick it up again later when you have rested. Rest and Relax. Life is short, enjoy it
“It does not matter on the absolute weight of a glass of water. It depends on how long you hold it”
If I hold it for a minutes, it is OK.
If I hold it for an hour,
I will have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day,
you will have to call an ambulance.
“It is the exact same weight,
but the longer I hold it,
the heavier it becomes.”
• 12. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier.
What you have to do is to put
the glass down, rest for a while
before holding it up again
We have to put down the burden
Periodically, so that we can be
refreshed and are able to carry on
• 13. If you really want to make something happen, you had better try more than once.”
Take a good look at an apple tree. There might be five hundred apples on the tree, each with ten seeds. That’s a lot of seeds!
Nature has something to teach us here. It’s telling us: “Most seeds never grow.”
• 14. You’ll attend twenty interviews to get one job.
• 15. You’ll interview forty people to find one good employee.
• 16. You’ll talk to fifty people to sell one house, car, vacuum cleaner, insurance policy, idea......
• 17. And you might meet a hundred acquaintances to find one special friend.
• 18. When we understand
the “Law of the Seed”,
we don’t get
so disappointed. We stop feeling like victims.
Laws of nature are not
things to take personally.
We just need to
understand them
and work with them. IN A NUTSHELL
Successful people
fail more often.
They plant more seeds.
• 19. The world is full of people who need someone who understands.
Yes, there is no charge for love!
Yes, for the one who needs someone
who really understands!!!
• 20. A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the Eyes of a little boy. “Mister,”he said, “I want to buy one of your puppies.”
• 21. “Well,”said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, “these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.”
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. “I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”
• 22. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared; this One noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....
• 23. “I want that one,”the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said,
“Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.”
• 24. With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself To a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said,
“You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.”
• 25. With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully handed it to the little boy.
“How much?” asked the little boy.
“No charge,” answered the farmer,
“There’s no charge for love.”
• 26. In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its bond.So hold the hand of the person who loves you rather than expecting them to hold yours…..
Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind of scared so he asked his little daughter,
“Sweetheart, please hold my hand so that you don’t fall into the river.”
The little girl said, “No, Dad. You hold my hand.”
“What’s the difference?” Asked the puzzled father.
• 27. “There's a big difference,”
replied the little girl.
“If I hold your hand and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go. But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens you will never let my hand go.”
• 28. To be persuasive we must be believable; To be believable we must be credible; To be credible we must be truthful.
Once there was an emperor in China who was growing old and knew it was coming time to choose his successor.
Instead of choosing one of his assistants or one of his own children, he gave the seeds to all children and gave them one year to grow the trees and he will decide who would become the next emperor.
One year later all children came to the palace with their growing trees except Ling.
• 29. Thentheemperorsaid, “Oneyearagotoday, I gaveeveryonehere a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring itbacktometoday. But I gaveyouallboiledseedswhichwouldnotgrow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants andflowers.Whenyoufoundthattheseedwouldnotgrown, yousubstituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only onewiththecourageandhonestytobringme a potwithmyseedinit. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor!”
• 30. Face the storms that come your way and don't forget to smile!
As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning.
The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school.
She saw her little girl walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up and smile.
• 31. When the mother's car drove up beside the child, she called to her,
“What are you doing? Why do you keep stopping?”
The child answered,
“I am trying to look pretty, God keeps taking my picture.”
• 32. Summary :
To become happier, It is easier to change our thinking rather than change the world.
Onlyyour positive attitude keeps You Going.
Having less demand. Instead, have preferences.
Rising as high as you can.
Whatever burdens you are having now on shoulders, let it down for moment
6. Try more than once
7. We need someone who understands
8. Hold the hand of the person who loves you
9. Building the courage and honest
10. Smile to the storm
• 33. Don’t forget to give a smile to the storm!!!
Thank You Very Much
Sompong Yusoontorn
