7 Life Lessons From A Water Glass!!!

 1. 1. 7
Life
Lessons
From A Water Glass
2. 2. A water glass can also teach you many life lessons. These lessons are merely thought starters; something to think about regarding lessons learned through painful experience. Life is an exploration, and maybe certain lessons must be experienced to be understood. Here are 7 timeless life lessons from a water glass that we must know basically :
3. 3. Life Lesson 1 : Free your glass
Zen Master poured his visitor’s water glass full, and then kept on pouring. If it is overfull, no more
will go in! It’s like this water glass, you are full of your own opinions and speculations. You have
to firstly empty your water glass. You have to be willing to throw out what you already know and
have a curiosity to explore new paths. If your glass is already full, you can’t learn new things.
4. 4. The amount of junk you have in your lives, is directly proportional to the amount of junk you have in your minds! So free your water glass. If you are full of your own ideas, there is no room for new ones.
5. 5. Lesson 2 : Don't Put Boiling Water In A Cold Glass
If you do - crack! You may break it. Heat
expands. When a thing expands it needs
more room. Glass expands readily. Anger
in life is like the boiling water. By becoming
more aware of what upsets you, and how
you feel when you are angry, you can take
control of it before it takes control of you.
6. 6. Next time you're confronted with an idea that makes you angry or uncomfortable,
don't immediately dismiss it or attack it. Take a moment to evaluate whether it's
really a bad idea, or whether it merely challenges your own preconceptions. Even
after you've honestly evaluated an idea and you still disagree, there is something
to be gained.
7. 7. Lesson 3 : Half Empty Or Half Full?
Attitude is not just about your outlook on life, it is also about choosing what that outlook will be. If you look for the good in life, you will find it….but if you look for the bad you will find that too! Shift your expectations…you may not be able to run the marathon, but you can enjoy a brisk walk. Create a new self and merge it with your “old self”.
8. 8. There are many people who seek the secret to a happy life and ponder the purpose of their life. There are no real secrets to living a happy and fulfilling life; all it takes is to have a positive attitude along with a proactive vision of what you desire in your life and then you will discover that the secret of living a happy life is in your control.
9. 9. Lesson 4 : Put The Ice In First, Then Pour The Water
Ice before water, because more of the liquid comes in direct contact with the surface area of the ice cubes, thus making more liquid colder faster. Also, splashing. Also, judging exactly how much space to leave at the top for displacement can result in overflow. This encourages you to put first things first by doing to the most important things in life, being clear about your priorities and acting on them.
10. 10. That sounds pretty easy and intuitive, but many people unconsciously fall into the trap of getting caught up in non-important things. They neglect the larger life priorities until it becomes too late to act on them. To become a master of your time, you need to first be aware of your priorities in the larger context of your life.
11. 11. Lesson 5 : Broken Glass Of Water
When a glass breaks, it breaks into many pieces and it is difficult to put it back together. So is a relationship, because there are many complex issues which go into the reason why they fail.We hope this will encourage you to keep all of your relationships in a positive manner. You can take care your water glass or relationship very well by saying only good words.
12. 12. Whatever words we utter should be chosen
with care for people will hear them and be
influenced by them for good or ill. - Buddha
13. 13. Lesson 6 : Remember To Put The Glass Down!
“What will happen if I hold a water glass for a few minutes?” “Nothing!” came the reply. “Right, and if I hold it for an hour like this, what might happen?” “Your hand will begin to hurt,” said a student. The problems and worries in life are like that glass of water. It’s important to remember to let go of your problems. Remember to put the glass down!”
14. 14. “Those are my problems, my worries and my anger,” said the man. “I have lots of
that at work, but when I come home, I remember to take it off – and leave them
outside. I don’t take them home with me.” Maybe you should learn to do that too.
Starting today. Put the glass down. And see the difference!
15. 15. Lesson 7 : Passing A Glass Of Water
“The glass of water was passed from hand to hand until it came to me. I carefully passed the glass of water to the next person. A few seconds later, Bobby Kennedy lifted the glass to his lips and drank deeply.”Without a sense that “my work matters”, people lose enthusiasm for what they do. Most people have lost that sense of significance. They don’t see that what they do really matters.
16. 16. What can you do today to ensure that
your work reflects your higher purpose?
Take time to embed this way of thinking
and you will transform the ordinary
“glasses of water” that make up the day
– into acts of purpose and meaning.
Otherwise, work will be as empty as . . .
an empty glass of water.
17. 17. Take your time in reading them. Inwardly digest them. Chew on them. Be challenged by them. Don’t discard them, but simply ask yourself ‘what is the lesson I have just learned’ once you have read them. Read them more than once. Seek to understand.
18. 18. “The intellect of the wise is
like glass; it admits the light
of heaven and reflects it.” - Augustus Hare
Thank You Very Much
SompongYusoontorn
