10
Life Lessons
The Movie Avatar
Learn lessons from the well acclaimed must-watch movie.
Avatar is a proof that in any movie production--the story and the quality of entertainment are still important elements to win over audiences! Avatar, a 2009 movie directed by James Cameron, has several spiritual lessons embedded in it. Here are the top 10 life lessons from the movie :
Lesson # 1 : Do the right thing
That its okay to betray your race especially if it is the right thing to do and if it is for common good. Truth is not relative and we cannot compromise what is right and what is good just because we belong to the same race.
Lesson # 2 : Clothes are out, natural colors are in!
Neytiriand the other creatures of the avatar world look so good in their body colors! Beyond the sexiness, I think the most important lesson is the fact that what is natural is beautiful. We are beautiful even without the blingblings and the fashion bruhaha!
Lesson # 3 : Respect to other creatures
Recycling is not the solution to the gradual destruction of mother earth. Like any illness, prevention is the cure. Respect to other creatures is still the essence of true stewardship.
Lesson # 4 : Everything is Alive
This beautiful planet on which we live is not a dead lump of rocks circulating around the sun in space. Everything in this earth is pulsating with energy. We should treat this earth and every living and non-living thing on this earth with respect and love. The "tree of souls" is as real as you believe it to be.
Lesson # 5 : Don’t mate with an alien in an avatar’s body!
Girls--don't mate with an alien in an avatar's body! This storyline goes beyond its shallow meaning-it simply tells us that making permanent connection with a person requires trust (and knowledge). Know the person you want to share your life with--don't give up everything easily!
Lesson # 6 : It always gets worse before it gets better
This is what makes any challenge rewarding. If there’s nothing at stake, if the work isn’t “hard enough,” then the reward tends to be empty. The same holds true in life, and especially
adoption.
Lesson # 7 : Love is the most powerful purifier of all
When our heart is filled with love, it heals us. This positive frequency goes out from us and resonates with everything around us. The heart filled with love creates electromagnetic field that affects the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well-being. Love purifies the spirit. It cleanses the soul.
Lesson # 8 : Everything is born twice
Your physical birth is simply the beginning of your consciousness. What you do with your life and how you earn your place in the community decides your second birth. To be born again, a person has to earn his or her place in the community. A real warrior has to earn place in the community by cultivating fearlessness and good heart.
Lesson # 9 : Balance is the key to all life
"Mother earth does not take sides; she protects only the balance of life," a quote from movie reveals that mother earth promotes balance and harmony over everything else. Several Hindu and Zen spiritual theories promote balance and harmony as well. For long term sustainability, nothing takes precedence of balance.
Lesson # 10 : Every individual has something to contribute
Everybody has a purpose in life. Living a purposeful life puts you in attunement with rest of the universe. "All energy is only borrowed...You have to give it back" - a direct quote from the movie reveals the quintessential aspect of how energy of both living and non-living things interacts and creates our universe.
Avatar is an impressive film..its a spectacular movie...an ultimate example of substance over style! Living your life by these 10 lessons is bound to fill your life with love, joy, and serenity.
