10 Life Lessons From Dr. Suess

 1. 1. 10
Life lessons
THEODOR SEUSS GEISEL
His 10 lessons significantly impacted us in the spiritual area of our life.
2. 2. Theodor Seuss Geisel was a cartoonist and writer. He’s most popular for his children’s books written under the pen names Dr. Seuss, Theo. LeSieg and once he wrote under the name Rosetta Stone.
Theodor published over 60 children’s books. These books were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequent use of trisyllabic meter.
3. 3. His most famous books include the bestselling Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Eleven television specials, three feature films, and a Broadway musical have been created from adaptations of Theodor’s work. Without further a due, here are 8 lessons from Dr. Seuss.
4. 4. Lesson # 1 : Be Who You Are
If you can’t be yourself with your friends, then they’re not your friends, or at least they’re not very good ones. The sign that someone is a good friend is how comfortable you are with them. If you can be who you are, and say how you feel, then hang with those folks, they’ll surely keep it “real.”
5. 5. “Be yourself, because the people who mind don’t matter. And the people that matter, don’t mind.”
– Dr. Seuss
6. 6. Lesson # 2 : Find Things and Enjoy Doing Them
In life we all need things that produce positive emotions both in the short term and long term. We are happier if we find things we enjoy and do them.
7. 7. “If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good”
8. 8. Lesson # 3 : Trouble Your Troubles
When troubles show up, you have to show up bigger. Don’t let troubles trouble you; you trouble your troubles by showing up with a “big bat!” But not literally…. You show up with a “big bat” by showing up with big courage, big faith, and big determination, if you do, you will trouble your troubles….
9. 9. “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”
10. 10. Lesson # 4 : Enjoy The ‘Now’
Both good times and bad times come and go. Enjoy the good times while they’re here and let them pass on when tomorrow comes.
11. 11. “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”
12. 12. Lesson # 5 : You Decide
How simple, yet how profound! You decide where you go, only you. You are only limited by your ability to believe in the impossible.
13. 13. “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”
14. 14. Lesson # 6 : It’s Up To You
No one is going to rescue you, they’re not. You have to dig yourself out of the ditch. You have to care enough; you have to be motivated enough, to change things. It’s up to you. Things only change, when someone cares an awful lot.
15. 15. “Unless someone
like you cares a
whole awful lot,
nothing is going to
get better. It’s not.”
16. 16. Lesson # 7 : Think
My greatest discoveries have come from sitting alone in a quiet room. Dr. Suess said, “Think left, and think right, and think low, and think high. Oh, the things you can think up, if only you try!” What can you think up? Just try.
17. 17. “You can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.”
18. 18. Lesson # 8 : The More You Know
Reading expands your mind to the possibilities; once your mind has been expanded it can never go back to its original shape. Commit to expand your mind, commit to know more. The more you know, the more places you will go!
19. 19. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go.”
20. 20. Lesson # 9 : Your Mountain Is Waiting
Everyday you’re presented with a mountain. You can climb the mountain, or you can play in the valley. If you climb more than you play, you will truly be on your way.
21. 21. “Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way.”
22. 22. Lesson # 10 : Acknowledge the realities of the world
Finally, Dr. Seuss knew that it is important to acknowledge the realities of the world and a given situation, even if you don’t like them.
23. 23. “I’m sorry to say so but, sadly it’s true that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you”
24. 24. Thank you to Dr. Seuss for sharing his world and wisdom with us all. These are just a few of his insights into maintaining your mental well-being. Please share any quotes or themes from Dr. Seuss that resonate with you in the comments section.
25. 25. You can improve how you are thinking about your current circumstances and change how you feel about them.
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.”
Thank You Very Much
SompongYusoontorn
