9. Computer equivalence
Almost all processes that are not obviously
simple can be viewed as computations of
equivalent sophistication

11. Democratisation of everything

Product design
Data analysis

12. What does it mean for marketing
techies?
we are going away from specialising and
back to omniscience
Guillaume Buat-Ménard – gbm@tmw.co.uk - @theg
13. What does it mean for brands and
agencies?
Embrace maker movement
Make things, fast, iterate
Recruit adequately

14. So, Skynet or Madmax?
Wolfram + 3D printing + Internet of
things
=
Skynet

Editor's Notes
Interested in seeing latest trends, where are makers, agencies, languages.
My secret mission
Apart from 3D printing, google glass mostly holistic: maker movement, hardware the new software, rapid prototyping, internet of things (standards), meta languages
Better resolution, not only gimmick, companies are using it for rapid prototypingScanning is the key, CAD is hard, this is making easy for anyone to make anything
Glass is not ready but exciting, not sure where it’s going but it’s disruptiveInternet of things has been around for a while but now IEEE is setting standards, also financially makes senseIt’s not about your fridge tweeting your TV it’s about your health card device connecting to A&E equipment and help making rapid decisions and diagnostics
Not only 3D but Asics, chips, programming is easy or companies can do it cheap and rapidly.Arduino and PI make it easy to prototypeSome tech start ups have no computer scientists, great community, easy to learn
This hit me really hard: couldn't speak for an hour, he is a visionary making it happen with multitude of research and productsWith computer equivalence he is trying to mimic the most basic of natural behaviours with very simple computer programs think basic cells, DNA sequences etc (he is decompiling life)
For example, the workings of the human brain or the evolution of weather systems can, in principle, compute the same things as a computer. Computation is therefore simply a question of translating inputs and outputs from one system to another.Wolfram is currently emulating the most basic natural computes with very simple computer programs think basic cells, DNA sequences etc (basically he is decompiling life)
Been around for some time, he is making computational knowledge available to everyoneThis means not only it will compute what you ask it but also guess what next you might want to knowShow and example (moon v earth, fb v twitter)The pro version can simulate entire echo systems eg spacecraft, car and ask it questionsHis meta language will democratise the creation and use of algorythmsThis means democratising big data in our indutry
Anyone can make anything really fast
We had to specialise because of technicality of subjectsNow tech is democratised we can spread across disciplinesPI shapedTry new thingsHack away
