Parent Child Internet Agreement - Presentation Transcript

    1. Parent and Child Internet Agreement Computers and the internet are valuable tools for both parents and children. Unfortunately there are people out there with bad intentions willing to compromise the privacy and safety of you and your family. The best way to insure your familyʼs safety and security when using the internet is to make it clear to your children what they can or canʼt do online. When they understand what is expected of them make them agree to what was discussed. Internet access is not a right but a privilege and your children need to understand that. Some Facts About the Internet • Not everything is private on the internet • People online are often not who they claim to be • People are often not truthful online General Rules My parents decide when I use the computer and where I am allowed to go on the internet. I will never give out or post personal information including my name, age, phone number, address, email, school name, sports teams, and where I practice or play. I never give out my password or login information to anyone except my parents. When my parents ask for my login information I will give it to them without argument. I will never give out or post the personal information of my friends or family. I will never agree to meet anyone in person that you have met on the internet without asking my parents first. If someone is making me feel uncomfortable or bullying me I will tell my parents immediately. I will ask for permission from my parents before downloading any music, movies, games, or software and will never steal or share copyrighted media. I will not install programs, software, or games without my parents permission. I will not open email attachments or click on links in emails. I will also not click pop up ads and banners, but will close them by clicking on the browser window close button. I will not participate in contests or try to win free prizes on the internet without asking my parents first. My parents have my complete permission to look at my computer, email, text messages, and any electronic communications at any time.
