    • City Council MeetingMay 1, 2012
    • Sculpture Garden• Local businessman and artist, Mr. Richard Salmon, has joined together with SAMFA to propose the creation of an outdoor sculpture garden.• Their proposal is to add 7 to 9 additional spots at Sunken Garden Park, supplementing the 3 existing spots (added in 2008), for a total of 10-12 where artists could temporarily place their sculptures.• No expense to the City.• Some adjustment to mowing patterns and irrigation systems.
    • Sculpture Garden• Artists selected through competition by a judging panel in the summer headed by SAMFA.• Sculptures placed in October and remain until the following year’s selections.• SAMFA coordinates placement and removal of the art.• Public Art Commission would get opportunity to review each piece before placement.• Sunken Garden Park selected due to its visibility, proximity to the Visitors’ Center and central location.• Public Art Commission unanimously approved this concept at its meeting on April 4, 2012.
