    • Request for Proposed Changes to SA Bandits Lease Agreement
    • Brief background info • City Council unanimously approved current 3 year lease agreement w/Bandits on Jan. 8, 2013. • Addressed rental fees, scheduling use, programs and novelty sales, concession proceeds, insurance, utility fees, staffing, storage, etc. • After inaugural 2013 season, Bandits reported that they lost approx. $138K • SA Bandits owner requested that the City revisit the agreement to see if changes could be made for future seasons
    • Requested Changes • Reduce rent to $750 a game with an increase occurring the following season to $1,000 a game • No fees charged for practice • Remove the requirement that 2,000 people must be in attendance before 5% and 7.5% of concession sales can be credited to rent • Waive the City’s percentage of concession sales for 2 games during the season to allow for reduced price concessions
    • Requested Changes cont. • Allow the Bandits to paint the home team locker room.
    • 2013 Season Total Revenue Total Expenses $19,296.14* $ 7,072.50 $12,223.64 * $5,513.84 were concession sales
    • Revenue with requested changes 2013 City profit $12,223 $6,000 loss in rent revenue $1,320 reduction for concession credit to rent $1,840 loss in concessions for two games $450 loss in practice revenue $9,610 loss City profit w/changes $2,613 (79% decrease)
    • Civic Events board recommendation • CE board considered the request and unanimously approved the following recommendation: • $1,000 a game rental • Remove attendance requirement to share in concessions proceeds • No charge for practice • Allow two games in which concession promos take place, resulting in $0 concessions for City and Bandits • allow the team to paint the locker room
    • Revenue with CEB recommendation 2013 City profit $12,223 $4,500 loss in rent revenue $1,320 reduction for concession credit to rent $1,840 loss in concessions for two games $450 loss in practice revenue $8,110 loss City profit w/changes $4,113 (66% decrease)
    • City Council Options • Staff is seeking direction from Council on whether or not to negotiate changes or keep the contract as is.
