  • 1. DUAL CREDIT WHAT DO YOU DO NOW ???
  • 2. PARENT CONSENT FORM
    • Make sure you have your parent sign your consent form and you turn it in to:
    • Mrs. Kyle in Career Center
    • New Students- Green Form
    • Currently Enrolled- Blue/Purple Form
    • FERPA
  • 3. www.applytexas.org Deadline is February 4, 2011
      • Have student print out last page confirming that application has been submitted (this page will also provide the student with their Application ID again) and turn it in to Mrs. Kyle in the Career Center.
      • Having an Apply Texas Application ID number does not signify the student has submitted their application
      • Have student login to their ACES Account through the Dual Credit website www.alamo.edu/nvc/dualcredit.htm
      • **If student can not access their ACES account, this would be an indicator that something went wrong with their Apply Texas Application. They will need to see their Campus Liaison to remedy the situation.***
  • 4. WHAT TEST QUALIFIES ME FOR DUAL CREDIT?
    • 10 th and 11 th grade TAKS will Qualify this year
    • Accuplacer deadline by June 5th
    • ** Contact Northwest Vista to schedule an appointment 486-4346
  • 5. HOW MANY COURSES CAN YOU TAKE
    • Sophomores can only take one dual credit class (upon final approval by NVC)
    • New to Dual Credit Juniors and Seniors can only take 2 classes of Dual Credit
    • Current Dual Credit Students can take up to 3 DC Courses (with 3.0+ GPA and no previous drops)
    • Currently 2 courses will be free *there will be a fee for the 3 rd course to be determined by NVC
  • 6. DUAL CREDIT CLASSES AT BRANDEIS
    • ENGLISH III AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • ENGLISH IV AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • ENGLISH IV DUAL (5pts sem)
    • PRE-CALCULUS PRE-AP/DUAL (5pts per sem)
    • CALCULUS AB AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • CALCULUS BC AP/DUAL AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • STATISTICS AP DUAL AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
  • 7. DUAL CREDIT CLASSES AT BRANDEIS
    • BIOLOGY 2 AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • US HISTORY AP/DUAL (8pts per sem)
    • ECONOMICS Dual (5pts per sem)
    • GOVERNMENT DUAL (5pts per sem)
    • Spanish 3 Pre-AP/DUAL (5pts per sem)
  • 8. Dual Credit Classes taken at Northwest Vista College
    • Medical Terminology
    • Intro to Pharmacy
    • Criminal Justice
    • Classes are in the morning and the bus leaves Brandeis approximately 7:00 am
  • 9. What other things should I think about when considering Dual Credit?
    • If you struggle in Pre-Ap now, Dual Credit will be twice as hard
    • Add up to an additional hour of homework for each dual credit class
    • Time Commitments to:
      • Extracurricular Activities
      • Other courses
      • Outside commitments
      • Work
      • Me time
