Media Guidelines and Procedures Media Guidelines and Procedures Presentation Transcript

    • Media Guidelines and Procedures Brad Domitrovich Director of School and Community Relations
    • Why should a school district adopt media guidelines and procedures?
    • We can educate the community about our successes by working very closely with our local and regional media outlets.
    • Many school districts already have media guidelines and procedures in place.
    • Having a media policy in place does not mean that we are trying to censor or control our message.
    • It’s important that as the district grows we treat all media in a fair and equitable manner.
    • It’s important that we ensure the safety of our students.
    • It’s important to keep media surprises to an absolute minimum.
    • What’s our purpose for having media guidelines and procedures?
    • They're designed to promote the success of our students and staff.
    • They're designed to keep school day interruptions to a minimum.
    • They're designed to keep student safety at the forefront.
    • Questions so far?

    • One of the things you’ll hear me say is ... “I’m not here to be a filter, I’m here to act as a funnel.”
