Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist born in 1856 who made numerous contributions to the modern world of electricity. Some of Tesla's most important inventions included developing alternating current, fluorescent lighting, radio, wireless power transmission, the Tesla coil, and creating a prototype for the first remote control. He helped pioneer technologies still used today such as electric motors, wireless communications, and even particle beam weapons.
